JHS Punchline

I can't wait to get new knobs, the stock ones are a pain...
Whomever designed this, was not really concerned with usability or was trying hard to get some more margin...
I think it was more of an aesthetic choice because they were going for a "could have been made in the 60s" vibe. They chose some knobs that Orange Amplifiers used and that work fine on an amp face but that no one seems to like in a pedal format.

valid point, maybe if they were inspired by Fender amps we would at least get knobs with numbers…
well, those are odd as well and we would also change them anyway 😆

I had emailed them if they would ever look at doing maybe just the preamp/amp sim in a smaller pedal and they said if they do, it would be at least two to three years. Said they already have a line up of projects that will take up that time.

Price keeps going up. lol.

Wishful thinking at best.

Aside - I cannot get over large format pedals like this.
We are living right now in peak insanity period for used musical gear. People don't seem to realize the bottom has dropped out of the market and hardly anything is selling unless it's steeply discounted. I won't even bother selling my gear in this market.

And at $600 you can buy 3 discrete pedals that accomplish the task at hand, if not more.

IMO, jhs is a big brand these days and a limited run from a big brand can only fetch so much.

To be clear - Not knocking the pedal as it is. Just as a $650 piece of gear it’s priced as in that ad. The msrp price had plenty of value for players as this thread shows.

Agreed - PLENTY of value. Yes it's big, but it fits on a small pedalboard.
Gigging owners who are grinning from ear to ear, gig after gig, know what a difference maker this tool is and what this secret weapon means to them. It's not an "effects" pedal, but a wonderful integrated unit which enables a bassist to easily dial in studio quality tones onstage in a matter of seconds. Every feature on this unit is useful, and they all work together beautifully.

I got mine for $375 on black friday. I feel like I should have bought two, maybe. Oh well :)

Out of curiousity, I was just browsing the JHS website to look at all the other pedals they make, and discontinued pedals too, and nowhere in there did I see the Punchline, at all. Searching for Punchline also found nothing. Do I have a blind spot or did they forget to list it themselves?

With it being a sweetwater exclusive, there may have been some limits on how they could list it.
