I saw the Jackets back in the days of 'The Spin' when Marc Russo was playing sax and Will Kennedy on drums. Somebody said 'religious experience', those have been my exact words all along to describe it. I went back the next night! I talked to Russ Ferrente and told him we came back for seconds and he was thrilled.

Jimmy and Oteil are my favorite electric bassists right now.

Jimmy Haslip really is a remarkabke player. A few weeks back I dropped by Dizzy's in San Diego to see Andy Suzuki, an excellent tenor sax player I like, along with a couple of other guys I never heard of. Andy was great but one of the guys I never heard of was Jimmy and I was completely blown away. Between his incredible technique, phrasing and tone, I just sat there slack jawed though a couple awe inspiring solos. Man, I'm sure glad I left the house that night for a little jazz!

The YellowJackets "25" Cd also has a DVD in it ....and you can see plenty of recent Jimmy Haslip Chops :bassist:...one of the most groovey, organic, bassists and human beings you will ever hear or meet...Peace...DAcat :cool:

Jimmy Haslip is one of my favorite players and one of my great influences.... I have almost all Yellowjackets albums and I treasure them!!
Others albums I like with him are Gino Vannelli's "Brother To Brother" and "Wild Horses", Lee Ritenour's "Portrait", "Kilimanjaro" by the Rippingtons, "Rapture " by Anita Baker (just one track on this one ) and "Orbit" by Neil Larsen.
I would like to know if he has done any instructional videos...I read some of his lessons online and they were very helpful to fit some interesting concepts...

I was just listening to Michael Penn's 'March'. Many of the songs have incredible bass lines so I looked it up and found Jimmy listed on bass. I initially was listening to 'No Myth' as a potential cover for our band, the Discogs site doesn't list him as bass player on that song but I think it is him.
