Jmac's Nidacore/Composite- 215 cab build thread

i would guess, depending on what type of grill and covering that you use, that it'll come in at 46-50lbs, which is a feather for a 215 cab that size.

I love 2x15 cabs.
Jorg Schroeder built me a custom 2x15.
No tweeter, vertical, came in at 45 pounds.
That and my GB Streamliner, my rig comes in at 51 pounds.
And sounds amazing.

Many thanks Guys! The more I play through it the more I love it... I played around with the EQ a bit, and tried two different basses through it. All I can say is WOW, this thing kills! The high end from these Faitals are awesome. I turned the gain up a bit, and they really came to life. Plain and simple, These speakers are awesome. I'll be giving them a thorough "on the gig test" this coming weekend, as We'll be playing an outdoor festival.

I weighed it and it came in at a smidge under 50lbs. So far I've been weighing it on a bathroom scale, by weighing Myself and then weighing Myself holding the cab. I may take it somewhere this week to weigh it by itself, as I'm really wanting to weigh it on a proper scale, and get a more accurate weight.

Looks like the SVT 412 will be going up for sale in the classifieds... I am very tempted to build another one to replace My 810 at Our rehearsal space... OH the GAS!

I'd say put an AMPEG logo on that cab... Or something else. To me it looks fine as is. But sometimes that logo gives a sort of finishing touch.

The most fun I think you can do is take the AMPEG logo off the top and put something like your own name on head and cab.... Simply a personall touch I dig...

well, i did put an ampeg logo on one of my 'horses' since i used ampeg grill cloth and wanted it to match my SVT-VR. ;)

JohnK, Nice Horses Sir! I agree that the Ampeg logo on the one with the VR is a must do. Your personal logo is really My fav though.
I have considered doing kind of similar. However, I was looking around on ebay earlier for something else and found these...

Very cool retro, I remembered liking the look, when I saw some vintage ampeg cabs with these badges on them at some point.

What do You Guys think? I'm trying to get a visual in My head for how it would look on there, before I buy one...

Internal dimensions:
Width: 24 1/4"
Height: 34 1/4"
Depth: 12 3/8"

Gross internal volume: 5.92 Cubic feet

For net volume, I subtracted the driver displacement, port area volume, and estimated volume of bracing.

Which from what I recall came in at around 4.9 to 5 Cubic feet

Edit, I forgot to mention that the overall thickness of the nidacore panels is 7/8"

only problem for me with those is that they're only 2 1/4"x 2 1/4" square which is kinda small for such a big cab.

i also considered one of these for mine.

............but i went for the more 'vintage' look. ;)

Darn, I just noticed that as well when actually reading the ebay add a bit better. Guess thats a no go, as it would look a bit "Tiny" on there. Yea, I was thinking of the chrome oval as well, but I agree it doesn't have the vibe.

JohnK, You would know way better than I do. What era Ampeg cabs came with the larger "A" logo like that one? I'm thinking it was the late 70's V-4 guitar cab, could I be wrong.? I think I may have to check and see what Fliptops has...
