There doesn't seem to be much holding the centre of the baffle in place. Are you bracing it?

i agree, you might try some bracing straight back to the rear panel. at least it worked very well on mine.

Looks it should be.

It still can crossed braced by spearing a dowel from the front baffle to the back. Think magicians sword trick. Epoxy in place. Same for side to side.

Also, seems like I see people glass around the speaker opening and glass in the t-nuts for strength.

it's looking great! that's about what my first (plywood) one weighed at that point (25lbs with threaded inserts and herculiner finish), my second one came out to 23lbs at that stage. i'm a little surprised that the nidacore isn't really much lighter, but you do have much heavier handles on your's.

i would guess, depending on what type of grill and covering that you use, that it'll come in at 46-50lbs, which is a feather for a 215 cab that size.

Yea. I was hoping it'd weigh a bit less, but You are correct a 50lb 215 is a feather compared to most that are commercially available.
Also, I plan on adding some extra bracing which may bring the weight up a bit more. Honestly, I think I added quite a bit to it with the Pine facing trim. I chose the pine, because it was lighter than a hardwood and the facing gives nothing structurally and is just an asthetic touch.

This was/is still a concern, with Me as well. However, It seems very structurally sound. I am probably gonna ad a "T" shaped brace that will run vertically between the two braces I have in there at the moment and some vertical doweling to connect the top and bottom panels, just for "cheap insurance". This is My first time working with this type of material, so I am figuring a lot of it out as I go.

JMac4strngr: Very interesting build! Looks like a fun project. Robby Hoinsky at Art of Noise Audio built a fEARful 15/6/1 cab for me. The weight was very similar to a standard plywood cab. The conclusion was that the manufacturer's specs on Nidacore are not accurate. If you're experiencing any issues/concerns when working with Nidacore, you could always PM Robby. For instance, a wood circle mount might be helpful for mounting the drivers.

Got cab corners, grill cloth, grill piping, skid rails, and odds and ends ordered Yesterday... I came up with a plan to address the bracing sceme, and will tackle that tonight if timing allows.... Pics are sure to follow!

It's my all-time favourite cab! The Nidacore fEARful 15/6/1 is an absolute dream to play through. Very clear and articulate. Very loud, if required. Really nice dynamic range coupled with fantastic dispersion and presentation of EQ changes. Very happy with it.

Robby built a great cab. It's held up wonderfully--no problems at all and I've had it for about a year now.

Excellent, I recall it being an awesome looking cab and the workmanship looked really good. Robby and his team do top notch work.
I had considered going the fearful route at one point, but the clips I heard of JohnK 10's cab with the Faital 15PR400's sealed the deal for Me. Tone played a huge role in My decision, but the weight saving aspect really helped pull the trigger. If I can come in a good bit lighter than the 105lb beast I am using at the moment, and cure other sound science issues with said cab, its a win-win. Funny thing is I'll end up with a cab that weighs less than the all tube heads that I'll use with it.

Had some time this evening to cut and install some additional bracing... I think this should help things, and keep me from saying "Wow, I wish I'd done that" later.

I weighed the braces prior to installation, and in total they weighed about 2lbs... I hope to get the finishing touches and "body work" done tomorrow, so I can get it dropped off for coating later this week.

Playing catch up here... I finally got the body work done on the cab, and dropped it off for coating with the liner shop last week. I picked it up today, and have been getting some more work done...
After picking it up from getting coated...

Getting hardware mounted up...

Got the battens put in, wired up, and drivers installed...

Tomorrow, I hope to get the grille frame made, cloth and piping put on, and take it for a test run... I haven't weighed it again, but I will say even though it's loaded I can still pick it up with one hand. I'm kind of still shocked that it is so light, whenever I pick it up I keep expecting it to be a lot heavier...

Thanks John! I haven't weighed it since it has been coated and loaded. FWIW, I can pick it up and carry it with one hand. Honestly, I am kind of thinking I would've been better served by putting a strap style handle on each side versus the cup style that I went with. Oh well, whats there is gonna stay there.

Grille complete and installed... I'm almost not feeling the black with white piping, if it doesn't grow on Me I may go a for something different... So here it is for now...

I ran it with My SVT Classic, and PF-500... Let Me tell You, this thing Rocks! I was expecting to have to do some EQ'ing to get what I wanted, but I didn't have to change a thing as it sounded great just the way I had everything set for My 412 cab. Everything I've played through it so far, sounded fantastic. She'll get crazy loud, way louder than I usually need... I'm gonna go play through it a bit more, and I'm gonna weigh it here in a bit and report the final outcome.

I must say, JohnK 10 You were right... I LOVE these speakers!

yep, i agree that it's really nice to have a cab that has no surprises tonally (i.e peaks and valleys in the freq response), when you first plug into it. congrats on the build! IMO, it came out very nice, and IMO, i think the white piping matches the head better than without it.

Thanks! I sanded down my cab today and will put a primer coat of spray paint on tonight. Might even get the duratex on.

I bet your SVT is at least double the weight of your cab.
