Heres a recent family photo of him, he's doing very well and sends his dearest gratitude to anyone who he has influenced, still likes to play the bass every day whilst relaxing at home, I think thats his daughter who just got hitched, listens to alot of unusual music (He loves his math rock so I'm told, anything with dissonance and odd time, he'll love it), he's looking to getting a blog or something since he loves to talk gear and electronics.

Thats all I know haha.

One of my college friends saw him lurking around Maidenhead over here and speaks to him quite regularly! I was recently told about this in the pub, I GASed, so he managed to get them for me, I dont know him full on though, but he's doing well he has no plans ever to go back to music though, he's fully with his family, and he also likes to check out the Queen fan club to keep in touch.

At the risk of sounding dumb (won't be the first time), John looks so English. Well, obviously he is, but if there is a "look" as to what I think of as that, he's got it.

Those are lovely family pictures, just as wedding photos should be. Thanks for sharing. :)

I recently bought the Queen with Paul Rodgers concert on DVD. It was quite a good concert. The boys can still rock, but I do admit that I missed not seeing John Deacon up there with his mates. He anchored one of the best 3 piece bands out there.

What an enormous influence this guy had on piqueing the curisoity of a very young Crockettnj... bass can be complex, interesting, fun, melodic, all while still holding the rythm section down!?!

wonderful family wedding photos, and yeah, I agree. He "looks" like an "englishman" out of central casting! Bless him.

John always was the "different" one of the Queen lineup, as most of us bassists are. He was the quiet organizer, the glue of the group in those days. His bass lines were tasteful, expressive, yet simple. He wasn't a bad keyboardist either.
It would be really great if we could get him as a blogger here.
Enjoy your retirement, John. We all do wish you would come out of it occasionally.

Anybody that likes John should get "The Making of Night at the Opera" from Classic Albums. John was the "quiet one" but contributed so much to the band that lots of folks don't know.He wrote a few of their big hits but never got the attention he deserved.Huge influence on me,and quite a few others here.

So he's getting himself a blog? Awesome, this will probably be the first blog I'll ever be following regularly, he's been a huge influence on my playing and motivited me to experiment with alternate bass notes and bass lines that switch between between melodic and minimalist parts. His bass lines with Queen have a certain elegance to them that's really hard to put into words in my opinion. It's really a shame he's so underrated.

I agree (as I own the same dvd)... John is one of the main reasons i pound a P bass! I love what Danny Miranda did with B.O.C., but there is only one Bassist for Queen. Great to know that Deacy is doing well :bassist:

I think John did the right thing. It was a money grab for a band that obviously doesn't need the money, and turned out a lousy album and kind of tarnished the legacy. Meanwhile, John's watching his daughter get married and blogging on the net and drinking pints at the pub while he cashes royalty checks. Good work, John!

I think the top photo is of John's son Michael's wedding, at least according to one of the links on Queenzone.com, but I don't know any one in the family myself, so this info could well be wrong. I do hope John starts a website or blog, it would be great to hear him talk about gear and such, especially with his background / education in electronics!

Wouldn't that be great if we could get John to pop in and blog once in a while? I think he would find a group of people that are not only fans, but who really respect and admire his work. But it's really nice to hear that he still loves the bass and is enjoying his life. Still.........(are you listening John?)
