JPJ is the man. I've been a fan of Zep for as long as I can remember. They've always inspired me. I remember when I first started playing I listened to IV all the time. They way he, next to sir paul, played had me thinking what was possible with the bass. He really stood out. And when he got involved with josh homme and Dave grohl to form them crooked vultures I was just like, man this guy is just awesome on so many levels. He's so educated on the math of music to. He just knows when, what and how to play flawlessly. He's up there for all timers.

Mucho Thanks! My mission in life is too get the bass tone from the song " Heartbreaker" on Led Zep II
I use a tc electronic rh450 ,with a tubetone, b3k, sublime , mxr di+ to get a good Heartbreaker tone.
Don't forget to play those double stops up the octave .

From what I understand is that it's a acoustic 360 with distortion and a little bit of tremolo!

JPJ teamed with Mr. Bonham has always been my all-time favorite rhythm machine to ever play onstage !
Led Zeppelin has played a GIGANTIC role in my musical life and JPJ was the main driving force in my choice of bass early on. He is an incredibly gifted musician and is probably slightly over-shadowed by the Plant/Page combo of being out front. JPJ's studio work is certainly heavyweight contender worthy but it's his live work where improvisation was the name of the game for Zep in the early 70's that really shows off just how strong a bass player he was. I dare say the best bass player of the 70's when talking about the big rock bands that toured the world..

I'd heard he played his 54 P Bass (strung with rounds) through a Leslie organ speaker on that one.
