I am another person into JPJ. I figure that anyone who can play immigrant song properly is doing ok. I think JPJ recorded it with a pick? Can someone confirm that ??
That was played with a pick, yes. JPJ uses a pick often.
Also, could I have a number?

I jumped in on this one but all these "clubs" are kinda pointless and I'm not sure what it's all about. Guess it's just a way to discuss a player or piece of gear in one spot
Agreed. For me this was a subject I was passionate enough about I found I could not ignore
One of my biggest influences! I started my musical career at age 8 learning church organ, then piano and then synths. Then I went to bass at 16. JPJ was a huge influence for me. I remember learning how to play the song and synth solo to "All of your love" on my first ARP synth and just being thrilled that I could do it. I still remember it and can play to this day. But maybe a little rusty .
Then when I started playing bass I was amazed at how he could groove so well on it.

Add me to the list. I actually prefer the stuff he is doing now which to me, is much more innovative for the bass as an instrument. If you saw him with crooked vultures, he was amazing.
I used to play along to Led Zeppelin II when I started playing in 87'. He is responsible for a lot of how I play now.

I'll take a number. I play Ramble On at the end of my daily practice. It's a little present to myself for doing the hard bits like getting singing/playing working on songs, and when I get to the freestyle riffing at the end I like to go with whatever I feel just to jam along with that great beat. For me, that's the great thing about JPJ's work, he mapped out what the song needed and had fun in the corners, which is just the way I like to play.
His sound is an intriguing blend of the P/J sounds from record to record. My cover band backed out of doing Whole Lotta Love which was a shame, such a fantastic groove. I next plan to conquer The Crunge, another favourite.
