Johnny Winter RIP

Had the honor to open 4 shows w/ JW back in the 90's. His road manager made sure he was well protected backstage [from pesky opening acts, among other things] and applied large white footprints on the floor for Johnny to follow to the stage due to his limited eyesight.

My older brother, a guitarist, started high school in the fall of 1969. I remember him buying "The progressive blues experience" shortly thereafter. We wore out that album while learning our first blues riffs. I was a newbie drummer, it fueled my first attempts at playing shuffles.

R.I.P Johnny.

When I googled Johnny Winter, (I've known his music since his first record) I came across an image of Johnny playing lead with Jimmi Hendricks playing, of all things, BASS for him.
Yes, they may now reunite and rock the heavens!

Saw him live at the Passaic theater…maybe '74. He was incredible and seemed like the friendliest guy in town. He was the kind of guy who had a way of making songs you're not familiar with sound like something you knew well and loved.

Yeah, I saw him several times in the '70s. He was fantastic. Great concerts, and phenomenal guitar player. RIP Johnny, and thanks for all the great music and memories...
