No neck angle. Top of the fingerboard is 1/4" from the top of the body. These single-string bridges, by the way, are height adjustable, so action won't be a problem. At least I don't think it will. Let's hope not.

By the way, I finished the neck today. All that's left now is fretwork.

Yep, they are hight adjustable, but only within limits. I had mine maxed out, so I had to adjust the neck neel with a handplane to raise the action enough to get it to play. Thats why Im planning on raising up the bridge pieces on the next one I use them on.

Right on the money, Mike.
It's Deft satin lacquer, from a rattle can.

EDIT: I got strings for it and ordered a pot (my local store was out of A-curve mini pots) today. I'm going to try to do the wiring, as well. Also, what do you guys think about the heel of the fingerboard? It's just flat right now, but I think it needs some flare. Maybe if I just rounded it or carved out a crescent shape perhaps? And the bridge... I'm still iffy, now, about the individual string bridges. I know they'll work, but they aren't string-through, so I would have to modify them for that. I'm just worried that maybe a different bridge, like a Hipshot "A" (or yes, even a cheap knock-off) would look better.

Hey guys, help me out here.
Suggest some bridges that would look good on this thing, will ya?
Oh, and let's keep it under $50.
:smug:

One Idea I had was to do something like this, but with a floating bridge:

EDIT: Too late. I went ahead with the single-string bridges. I found some flat black screws at Lowe's that allow the saddle to be moved much more, and also allow the rear-most screw hole to be used as a string-through hole. I'm about to install the ferrules now.

I'm gonna level with you guys. This build isn't how I wanted it to be. I'm seriously considering planing the top off and making some changes. For instance...

- The fingerboard isn't as long as I wanted it to be. On previous builds, I've made the fingerboard extra long so that I could do this fancy thing with the heel of it, as seen below. What I would do is glue on an extension. There might be a slight glue line, but I could be content with that.

- The single-coil pickup? Not what I wanted at all. It's only there because it's the only magnetic pup that would fit. I would have liked to use a soapbar-style pickup, but now I'm thinking of going back to piezo, or maybe I could retrofit the current pickup to be a "floating" pickup.

- Weight. It's still kinda heavy. I have back problems (yes, at my young age of 23), so I need a lightweight instrument. Wide straps don't help. It's why, as a side-project, I've been hollowing out a jazz bass I built. I could have hollowed out the body A LOT more than I did, especially if I went the piezo pickup route.

- The bridge. Ehh... I'm so-so about it. I think I can live with the single-string ones, but I just have that feeling that another bridge might have looked better.

Tell me what you guys think.
