Hi, everybody.

I've been playing bass for about 5 years now (I'm 24). I was way into heavy metal when I first started playing, so I started rocking out to Iron Maiden. My first bass was a MexiFender Precision. After a year, I auditioned for and made a, for lack of a better explanation, post-thrash progressive metal band, if you understand that at all! :) You can check out what I was doing at: Link Removed. Seeing (hearing?) is worth a thousand words. The main guitarist in the band had major GAS, and I seem to have picked it up. My rig started as an Ampeg B50R and that MexiFender. The guitarist used a seven-string guitar (Ibanez Universe UV777, for the curious), so I needed to get a 5-string bass to compliment it. I settled on an EB/MM Stingray5, and I haven't looked back since.

Nowadays, I find myself as a grad student (just got my M.S. in Meteorology from FSU, staying for my Ph.D.) in a college town overseeing an '80s glam/buttrock cover band called Decade of Excess playing instruments that are way too nice for this kind of music! I hafta say, though, playing fun and easy music is quite a change! I'm here to pick up some knowledge on new gear, to improve my technique (more Rocco-style tapping, Billy Sheehan shredding), and just to waste more time so I don't have to program!
