So this bass really has 27 or 26 frets? Are you going to cover the truss rods with material that will allow the 28th and 29th frets to be playable?

How thick is the neck?

Neck is 20mm thick

no truss rod covers planned.

yeah my headstocks are a little thicker than what tuners usually can take plus using the counterbore allows to get the string lower on the tuner shaft.

last thing is that it looks cool IMHO

you can't of course ask for the same balance on a 5 string bass and on a somewhat "extreme" 12 string bass.

There are some weight indications on top of this page. I favor keeping the bass as light as possible rather than adding weight to the body to balance for the headstock.

NOw my guess is that it will balance pretty ok, with the Naïa featuring a long upper horn, the headstock beeing pretty short and the sorter scale on the high side

You may be able to manage some of the neck dive with intelligent placement of the strap locks. I.e. putting the butt one higher up the body.
Or invent another kind of strap attachment.


BTW, the workmanship is of course as usual.

the butt strap button is always off-center on my basses.
