Jule Amp M700

So after the gig I asked my sound engineer's opinion. He said he couldn't believe how my rig filled the room, and my stage volume was balanced with my band mates. He said there was a real fullness to the tone that just carried to all parts of the room, and that he hardly had to push me through the mains. Pretty incredible.

Another note here. I did not use Monique's DI out for this gig. I wanted to be able to capture the tone of the M700 as well and send that to FOH. So I used my Rupert Neve DI box which has the ability to take a speaker out as well. So I fed the speaker out of the M700 to the Neve DI, then to FOH. It's nice to have the option to do this without having to mic the cab.

Well My engineer absolutely loved the DI tone, especially coming from the M700. He said my tone was crisp, major support in the bottom end department, and the notes had meat behind them. I noticed this on stage as well. Even notes on my G string sounded big. A lot of heft and support behind each note!

I do think the DI on Monique is fantastic, but to have the ability to capture the M700 tone as well, well that's just superb.

I am sold on the M700. Pretty damn sweet!!

Fast forward to tonight. At a gig in a nice sized room and turned on the M700. I have to say I couldn't be more wrong. When comparing both amps here the M700 wins hands down. The detail and clarity is phenomenal and I love the roundness to the notes as well. Definitely more air on top and it slams big time.

My keyboard kicks ass through this setup as well. I am hearing clarity and low end to my patches that I have not heard before. I am stoked. Jule you're a genius! Wow!

So here is pure perfection for me! Oh and I put my Minnie back in my gig bag!

Pardon my brain=phart, but are those thunder chief cabs? And how do manage running the bass and kbrd through the one rig? I use a Moog Sub 37 at my gigs and haven't been able to think of a good solution for running my bass(es) and Moog through one lone bass rig.

I'm using audiokinesis Hathor 1203's for cabs.

I basically use an a/b switch to switch between bass and keys. However I also use an fdeck hpf on the output of my keyboard to roll off some lows.

Yeah that is a tricky one because I think you may run into impedance issues having both on at the same time. Perhaps I'm mistaken, I'm definitely not an electronic genius! Lol!

Definitely do not use the Boss line selector pedal to do this. IME with the pedal it degraded my tone.

I use the little lehle as a switcher, no tone suck. I would put a blender in front if I wanted to play keys too.

So you're using the Hathor 1203's for keyboards? If so, I think you're the first. Just as monitors?

Hey Duke,

I switch off between electric bass and keyboard synth bass for some of the dance stuff. I'm using them to fill the house my friend and they do it in spades, not as reference monitors.

The sound engineer here tonight is really impressed by the sound of the cabs. His words, well defined clarity and mucho balls in the lows! As I said, his words, not mine.

I'm sure the m700 is helping out in this department as well.

Decided to post here as well (presently in the Juleamps monique forum).

I was noodling around on my bass so I decided to geek out. I made a few signal chain placement DI comparisons if anyone is interested, just because I'm a geek. IMO I would be happy with any one of them but they do have slightly different flavors. The file names below are misleading so read the descriptions associated with the track to see the actual signal chain used for the recording. Here ya go.

Signal Chain is as follows:
Fodera > Monique Preamp > Juleamp M700 power amp > Speaker out of M700> Neve RNDI Speaker Input > Apogee One > Twisted wave iPad

Hmmm... Perhaps it's what you're using to listen to them. There are distinctive differences. Some are subtle, some are more drastic. I listened to them through three different sources and noticed differences on all 3...

- audio technica ath m50 headphones
- dynaudio studio monitors
- PA system - Kara speakers and subs via Midas Pro2 console (most noticeable difference and obviously not available to everyone)

I notice a difference. The M700 speaker out and the Monique DI sounded best to me. Monique's line out was also a great tone, but I liked the other two more. I think my favorite might actually be the M700 speaker out... I did not think that would be the case.

I found it easiest to compair the recordings a few seconds at a time. The differences become noticeable.

Yeah it was pretty noticeable when I pumped the tracks through the PA system. The Monique DI is something else. There really is no governor on it! The low end information it let's pass through is big and moves a lot of air, especially when thumping on the strings.

The m700 di feed had a little less going on in the low end department but probably not a good comparison since it is being fed through the Neve di, which doesn't have a tube or transformer.

Nevertheless I really like the m700 di sound due to the extra sauce in the mids and the punch of each note.
