Just checking in: I have an early Monique with the Demeter power, a Monique 700, a Dovecage and a guitar amp (paycheck).
A couple of fun things, the input level is not a gain knob. There is a fixed amount of gain and you will find lower output basses sound cleaner, then high output basses. You can level match or drive that more with a clean boost pedal, opens up the palette of tones. Pulling that knob out will boost the gain and in addition to being louder the sound is more saturated. Some really high output bass will have some noticeable distortion. Pulling the line out also changes the phase and I find in recording situations if you have a 2nd DI or mic on a cab. If you have the line pushed in flipping the phase on the mic or board input is almost a must.
With the balanced level max’d there is enough output to drive at line level; you can go direct to a line input on the board or in a studio situation you can go line level direct to the interface, or drive it through an EQ or compressor without a mic pre.
As studio tool, I like to run 2 channels; one from Mo and the other could be a mic on the B15, a Reddi or Motown DI. Setting up Mo for your bottom end and the other for articulation is my favorite use case. But also a clean Di and running the clean boost into Mo can give you the option on blending clean and dirty. Also Mo clean and using the 2nd DI or amp for upper mid range distortion can be fun.
You can also come up with some creative ways by using the line and balanced outs as your 2 channels to tape.
The bandaxal EQ is interactive and the highs react differently depending on where the mid and lows are set and visa versa. That along with the range of sensitivity and its push/pull knob there really are endless possibilities and new discoveries 10+ years later.
Enjoy guys
