So excited, just bought a year old Monique 700!! Be here in a few days. Comes in a 2 space rack. Is that big enough, or should there be more room for ventilation? And did I read that there’s no manual for that specific piece?

You’ll love the sound! So excited, just bought a year old Monique 700!! Be here in a few days. Comes in a 2 space rack. Is that big enough, or should there be more room for ventilation? And did I read that there’s no manual for that specific piece?
There should be plenty of space in a 2U for proper ventilation. Using the (very quiet) fan is never a bad thing - unless it bothers somebody. So excited, just bought a year old Monique 700!! Have you tried a telephone booth?Anyone have a large case suggestion for the Tardis? Tried an Apache 5800 and it was barely too small :/
I have a studio slips bag for my tardis, wouldn’t mind having a pelican case for it though.Anyone have a large case suggestion for the Tardis? Tried an Apache 5800 and it was barely too small :/
I’ll look into it, not sure if anything pelican makes will fit without being extreme overkill? I’ll have to find that out as wellI have a studio slips bag for my tardis, wouldn’t mind having a pelican case for it though.
I do have a Rackmount Monique for those gigs I’m worried about it getting banged around. If I didn’t I would certainly want a good hard case for the tardis.
Let me know what you find, thanks for the suggestion also.Looks like the Pelican Storm IM 2400 or 2450 could be a good fit. I’ll measure tonight.
Hi.Small correction, both have the Sylvania 6SL7GT tubes
I've had a Monique pre for about a year now and absolutely love it. I just got an M700 poweramp that the old owner didn't want to sell without his monique pre so for the moment I have two. I have no idea what the building year of either of them are, but it's funny to see there are some small differences design wise.
The (I think) older one has a white LED next to the power switch, the grill of the dovecage is less dense (the holes are closer together) and the DI level knob is the same as the EQ knobs.
The newer one has a blue LED, a more dense grill/a bit more metal in between the holes and the DI level knob in the same as the sensitivity/line level knob.
Sound wise I can't make a direct comparison since the older one has the original tubes, and I changed the ones in the monique I had for a telefunken EZ81, radiotechnique 12au7 and two 1945 Sylvania 6SL7GT
The serial numbers are 376517 and 370848Hi.
Thank you for playing Monique and the M700. Fairly good combination?
I expect that this reply is out of order, for which I apologize.
With the serial number (back, on the left) we can tell you when each of your Moniques was built. You have 1 older one (strange almost white light, smaller perforations). You also have a newer/current chassis and top.
Our original metal fabricator decided to become old and play golf in Texas. He closed his shop. Since we had to move to another supplier, when made some changes (after 10 years).
The power light difference is because that light is now a Blue LED (lasts pretty much forever) behind a blue lens rather than the older #47 incandescent light bulb (they die)
The new top is a bit sturdier. You can tell by tapping it with your finger. The new top no longer has abrupt edges to the metal. All the joints and folds are now smooth, kinda slick The metal we now use for both the chassis and top is thicker. The top is also one contiguous piece rather than the old three piece welded design. We also beefed up the bottom edge of the new cover for added stability.
Have fun.
Both of these went to my friend Paul Sips, the owner of bassmatters.nl Bassmatters is a world class bass shop in Groningen Holland. Paul is in the process of moving his shop to a new location (downtown) right now.The serial numbers are 376517 and 370848
I didn't see a single line in your message which was out of order
Thank you Peter. We're still thumpin' out here.Still the best![]()

Ah yes, Pauls shop is amazing and I've spent quite some time and money there. It's in Nijmegen though, not Groningen. Paul has been praising the Monique to no end for a long time and I felt last year that since my mom's name is Monique it would be a shame to not get one. On a sidenote I might put a sticker on the poweramp to change the M700 name to Peter to have both of my folks representedBoth of these went to my friend Paul Sips, the owner of bassmatters.nl Bassmatters is a world class bass shop in Groningen Holland. 370848 went there September 2105. 376517 (with what was then an experimental new top) went June 2022.
I met Paul because Dave Swift (great player - great person) told Paul my stuff was OK. That's how life goes sometimes. 376517 had the new curved top. The top was experimental at that time.
