here's a cute little vid I did with my band a few weeks ago, giving Monique and Minnie some airtime :)....hope you guys dig!

Soulfarm - Relax Your Mind (Blue & White)

Cool! The bass/amp sound great.

Funny, at a relaxed and fun rehersal last week I realized how versatile my Monique and Fodera are together. We jammed around on tunes by the Eagles, Johnny Cash, Rush, Judas Priest, Free, Chili Peppers, some slappy funk as well as fingerstyle Stevie Wonder, Beatles, Stones, new country, etc..... the Monique and Fodera together seriously nail just about everything with a little bit of tweaking.:bassist:

Totally. In fact, this is the first rig I feel comfortable running my Imperial in passive mode. I just tweak the tone knob a bit, and dial in some mids and lows from Monique and I'm there!

Hi all,

I'm heading the way of getting a Monique but would like to try before I buy if I can. The reviews are impressive but there's nothing like hearing it for yourself. Problem is I'm in Australia and Jule tells me there are 6 here somewhere. The chance of finding one close is not good but if you don't ask.... So whose got one over here and where are you?

Thanks!

If you were in Canada, you could try one of mine.;)

In any case, resale is really high on Moniques thru TB. If you can't find another Aussie TBer willing to let you demo one locally, you wouldn't lose more than $150-ish if you hated it. Ask Jule about his return policy too, but shipping would likely be a killer.

Good luck!

Yeah I won't loose much if I hate it but I can't see that happening. Where I work we distribute Reliable Controls equipment which comes from your end of the world. So with the dealers conference happening locally I might just take you up on the offer. If I could convince the boss to fork out the money. :rollno:

I'm told that they don't last long if they appear for sale and I'm used to paying for freight. Part of the joy of living down here.

Found one in Queensland about a 2 hr flight away. 5 more to find.

NZ too, but I understand that is not close either.

No problem! Hit me up if you make it to Toronto. I'm sure there is a downtown music store we could terrorize with Monique.:)

I appreciate you folks offering to hook up. I get asked occasionally for "local" referrals. I would like to offer them, but feel it is not a respectful way to treat my existing customers, even though many would enjoy the opportunity to meet fellow players.

Much better to come from here.

If i was you, I would just IM the "locals". :bassist:

You would likely be surprised at how accommodating most bassists can be!

Jule as you know, if you want to send demo referrals to me (Central NY State), please go ahead. You have my email, phone and/or FB, plus here.

After a few hours last night, I can confirm that the 'modern' stock rectifier tube is the one to go with. I feel it really brings this preamp to life over the vintage one I did use. I'm still back and forth about running the HPF3 in front or behind the Monique, but I think besides the output level to the power amp it is a subtle difference. Last night I ran it in front of Monique, and it still controlled superfluous speaker movement and sounded great.
