So far it takes less time to get to Belgium and Australia than to get to the East Coast of the US.

Can't complain :). Shipping with FedEx (International Priority) from either the East or West Coast always takes 2 working days. International Economy from either location takes 5 working days.

That said, I'm still super happy with my revised wooden Monique! That thing delivers. Super fat and warm while still being super fast. I also got a lot of compliments about how she looks as well.

I feel like they have sweetheart deals with some of the 'big' retail entities and those things move a bit quicker. Fer instance I ordered something on Sunday from a large online place and had it shipped '4-5 day free ground' from CA, and it arrived yesterday. The tracking hadn't even posted yet.

Its cool. Shipping logistics are more of an art than a science. ;)

I don't know about those sweetheart deals. I bought stuff from large and small companies / retailers, and Int'l Priority was always 2 days, Int'l Economy 5 days, no matter if it was a small or large company.

Don't feel bad, though, a lot of music-related stuff is cheaper a lot in the US than it is in Europe. That, and gasoline. Congrats with your Monique by the way! You won't be disappointed!

For me those sweetheart deals are gravy...I'll never complain about ordering on a Sunday and having it at my door on Monday evening. A week ain't bad in the grand scheme of things. I won't get a chance to sort and rack and play until this weekend anyway.

The good news is that I requested a 'hold at location' for a FedEx place about 2 miles away, so if it does come up as 'delivered' I'll take an early, late, or extended lunch and go pick it up. The other cool thing is that you don't need to go to the warehouse anymore, but they'll hold it at any FedEx/Kinkos, which are all open 24hrs.

I decided not to suffer the day or four of post its on my front door.

Hopefully I'll have mine tomorrow, and maybe get a chance to work it out a bit. Mz. Skies is outta town on bidniz until Friday then heads to Alaska for a week long bachelorette adventure with her maids...I'll be drinking beers and entertaining Monique when she's gone. She'll never know. ;)

Luckily the valuable china is stored in the cabinet with the Teutonic plates at my Mom's house 350 miles away. :)

Also luckily for my downstairs flat neighbors (who have never afforded us the same consideration), my band rents a practice room across town, literally on the other side of the tracks, where my gear (beyond basses) generally reside secure and comfortably.

The bad news is that the PIT BBQ that our room resides above will probably take the worst hit.

The good news is that it means I can treat Monique to a good meal while testing. :p

On FedEx vehicle for delivery

WILMINGTON, MA

Fortunately, my workplace has a large shipping dock, so Monique is slipping in the back door, and my wife need never know. ;)

She'll have to cool her high heels for a day or two, however, as I'm much too busy until Saturday to do anything but gaze lovingly at her sitting in my office (a better view if she were of the curvaceous or blond types, but I'm a practical guy who knows that all tubes are gray in the dark...well, until heated, that is).
