Just got hooked up!!!!! American Standard P and Marcus Miller Jazz

for $1800 out the door at GC. The MM is the sick 3 tone sunburst, and the P Bass is the 2008 American Standard P bass vintage sunburst.

Even better, my dad bought me a POD Line 6 XT live for fathers day and since im not much of a pedal junkie, and that thing has too steep of a learning curve for me...I exchanged it and put the $430 credit on to these two basses.

So I walked out of GC with the two above mentioned awesome basses for $1360 out of pocket!!!!

I am so stoked right now....I had to share!

Im currently playing in a cover band that has a set list that ranges from pop to metal to rock to reggae to funk to blues.

I also have an American Fender Jazz deluxe FMT and an F Bass BN5.

I needed a P Bass, didnt really need the MM, but its slap tone, and looks are soooo freakin awesome so I decided to negotiate the heck out of the guys at GC, even pulled the ol "walk out of the store routine" and they bit on it. I figure if I can walk out of here with these two basses at a killer price....why not!

I paid about $680 for each bass. That is a steal!

I also A/Bd the 2008 Fender P against a 62' reissue P. The reissue was lighter, had a more vintage colored headstock (looked older); sounded a bit warmer and less focused ( not in a bad way). And it had a thumb rest. Otherwise they looked identical.

Ther 2008 just barked! Loud, aggressive P tone....I definitely would say that the 62' reissue sounded a bit more "vintage", but I think the 2008 is defintely the more flexible bass in terms of being able to dial in some variety in the tone department. It was also $275 cheaper which is ultimately why I went with it.

That's wierd... I just bought a Marcus Miller jazz (the natural one) & ordered a 2008 American Standard Precision in 3 tone burst with maple board! Hoping my P will be here in the next few days!
