Well I picked this 1995 MIJ ’75 Reissue up on eBay for $607 added a Bad A$$ II bridge and a black pick guard. This was my first MIJ/CIJ Fender I have ever owned. I have owned 2 MIM and 6 MIA’s.

I love it! This is a real players bass and has a good amount reliced player wear.
Sound wise this thing is a real throaty Jazz, the two P/U’s really have that distinct “Hey, I’m playing a Jazz bass.” sound.

It came to me more suited to shoot arrows rather than be played as a bass. The strings were an inch or more off the board, P/U pole pieces on the E and A string were way offset, it looked as if it hadn’t been cleaned in years, had a few nicks dings and chips, and the strings were barely wrapped a quarter of the way around the pegs. Strangely enough this thing had seen years of gigging in this condition.

I took the whole thing apart and cleaned the heck out of it. I then put on EB Slinky Hybrids, set it up to my “Fender” specs, and now it’s done. Perfect! I had always wanted a ’75 reissue and my top two choices were LPB with Rosewood board or Natural with Rosewood. Well I didn’t shell out an extra $500 for a LPB collector, I got the beat up gig worthy Natural/Rosewood, and I couldn’t be happier.

Took me a while to find one for the price I was willing to pay. Patience is truly a virtue.

Thats a fine looking axe man. Good work and hope it sounds as nice as it looks.

I tried an American RI 75 recently (bout £1,300 in the UK) - I was a bit disappointed though. I thought that the shop could have tried to set it up a bit better and should have changed the strings- totally lifeless.

Yeah, I have to setup every bass I get just right for me. My slinky hybrids, and tweaked Fender factory specs. Its a shame that most music stores don't really setup a bass properly, or atleast fix it to be playable and make a sale.

And this thing plays, and sounds like it looks. Sick! :D

Yeah, I was indecisive about which one I was going to use. I have an 04 3TSunburst MIA with a tort guard and opted for the black with this one, just to mix it up a bit. I may drop a tort on later down the road though. I really do prefer tort as well.

Looks great! I have a similar 78 J bass with black guard. I just noticed that the distance between your back pick up is a 60's spacing rather than a typical 70's one, which is an 1/2 inch closer to the bridge. You can do a thread and check the specs out. Tonally, there is a difference. Anyhow, congrats on a great bass and price!

When I was researching buying this thing I found out about the bridge P/U being in a 60's position rather than the 70's. I see that the Geddy is period correct though.;)
