Just ordered a Golight 4x10

Neoliath is actually a good name. Sounds badass, almost metal. Might have been a good image makeover for SWR. Oh well, too late now...enjoy your "Golight." Sounds like diet foods.

(says the guy who uses a Fender P-Lyte)

:hiding:

Haha

I used a P-Lyte for a while too... then I realized I was a man :D
I had that coming :D

Believe me, if it weren't for my chronic shoulder problem, a P Lyte would be the last bass I use. I honestly do feel like less of a man using it. I'd love to go back to using a regular Precision or Jazz. But the headaches...man, they were bad.

I saw SMV on Saturday(Chicago) and to my ears, Marcus, who was using four Golight cabs and the Marcus Pre had the best overall tone. I don't doubt it had little to do with the cabs, but still...he sounded unreal. Stanley was using Goliaths and Vic was using the HyDrive cabs. All of them sounded great but Marcus really stood out.

+ 1, i saw them in New York and Marcus sound was unreal, i know that he changed basses, but did you hear the glass coming from those cabinets

Hey, no shame in it if you ask me. You gotta do what you gotta do if you're gigging as much as you seem to be.

I've been looking at single 12's lately because I sold my car and the other guys in the band don't have much space in theirs. So, I need to use public transportation to get to the gigs. So far, we've been able to make accomodations, but at some point, carrying my rig with me on the train/bus will be the only way I can guarantee that it will arrive.

I love my heavy, ceramic Goliath, but I can't get it on the elevated train by myself :D Nothing to do with masculinity (well, maybe a little), just a matter of doing what you have to do get the job done.

Yo Jimmy...how you be My Man? Hope all is well..
I had a Fender P-Lyte Deluxe as my only bass for almost 8 years and it was probably the best sounding bass I've ever owned. Completley stock, too. Great pre-amp. But that bass wasn't that "light" because it was mahogany and with the neck being a little longer I wound up with shoulder problems. Go figure.
Nothing to do with being a man or not... Sorry to derail the thread but if you like Jazz basses so much why don't you buy one of those hollow Jazz bodies from Warmoth and put a J together? I've had real bad gas for one of those J bodies for awhile and might actually get to do it later this year.
Peace :bassist: )-(

Hey Doc, good to hear from ya! Ya, I thought about it, but from what I hear, there's not all that much of a weight savings. There's a little, but not enough. I've figured out that a little over 8 lbs. is my limit, which means possibly a Precision, but a Jazz is going to be tough to clock in at that weight, hollow or not.

I might argue that last point with ya Good Buddy. I have a 1968 alder Jazz body with a MIM Special Edition maple/pau ferro neck, with a Wilkinson Fender-style bridge with brass saddles, DiMarzio Model J's, 3 ply guard, and Ultralight tuners and it clocks in at 8 lbs 3 oz. You could always go with Swamp Ash for the body and veneers, which has a tendancy to be lighter anyway, and if you really wanted to do it, you could pay Warmoth $40 bucks extra and they would hand pick anything you want. At least that's what they told me a couple of years ago. But as in anything that's sight unseen, ordering anything like that is a crapshoot as to how it's gonna sound. But that's just my tuppance worth. )-(
