Just ordered some Chromes

Got Chromes on all three of these.

The cool thing about Chromes is their brightness when needed. By turning up my tone controls I can get an almost roundwound tone out of them, but normally back the tone down and keep it thumpy.
I see no reason to switch to another string, but may try TI's eventually.

i was never a flats kinda guy for the longest time. i tried a set of roto77s on my fender HRP way back when i was in high school and switched back to rounds pretty quickly. got a set of chromes to put on my ibanez gsr100, which has a p pickup, but didnt like the way it sounded. then on a whim a couple days ago i bought a set of chromes for my '08 AS p-bass to see if putting them on a real p-bass would change my mind about flats. well, they most certainly did! all this time people raving about p-basses with flats. i finally get it now. i liked them so much i went back the next day and bought another set to put on my '81 g&l L1K.

Jo, guys.

I have picked them up and putten 'em on my J. Boy, now my J has finally got some low end. I still find them quite clanky and new (don't like that), but I think they need to 'ripen'. After a while, I assume, they will sound awesome. Had anyone had same experiences?

If I have some recordings or something, I'll share them.

Ciao.

I hope they sound as good as everyone says. I picked up a mint (apart from one tiny chip) Aria STB series P copy for £40, I've got some Chromes and Quarter Pounder PUs on the way for it, it was going to be a cheap back up bass to try some flats on but I've got a feeling I'll be using it more and more.

I kinda like'em. But I'm not quite sold as I already stated. Maybe it's a matter of time... We'll see. Apart from money, you've got nothing to lose with trying!

One caveat to chromes (other flats may be this way to IDK):

Every set I've had has felt a bit tacky or sticky for the first couple of weeks of playing once they are put on. This sensation goes away and I'm left with really satisfying strings. So if you try them and don't like them right away or think they feel weird, just hang in there- they WILL get better soon. Just my .02

What do you mean by 'tacky'? It reaches far beyond my vocabulary I'm afraid. xD

They will mellow out! I think people buy them, dislike the initial brightness, and cast them aside. Give them a while, an they'll sound amazing!
