Just ordered the Darkglass Microtubes X

It shouldn’t be noisier than our other pedals at comparable gain settings.
The X circuits have significantly more gain on tap than the other Microtubes or Alpha Omega.

Hey doug...okay so it isn't that noisey. I do plan getting another darkglass pedal sometime in the future. and I was debating on either the vintage deluxe or the microtubes x7. on another note, I do enjoy the pedals you've made. I have the vintage microtubes. which is the first darkglass pedal I've ever owned. I do like how warm and heavy it sounded and I do treasure this bass overdrive pedal. I do plan on getting another darkglass pedal to go with my vmt. and the vintage deluxe and the microtubes x7 is what I'm debating on at this moment. my other choice would definitely be the alpha omnicron.

I plugged the DP-3X in for a second & I didn't like it. At all. I don't have room for it on either of my pedal boards anyway. I was really curious about it and wanted to give it a shot.

I do like the X & I now have 2. Nice, versatile unit that doesn't take up much real estate.

In the mix is where the dUg lives. Also... Do you have the 2 regular X's to use each for different settings, and didn't need to move up to the X7? I have been thinking of moving from the X7 to the X. I just use the X7 as a tone-shaper and wondering if the regular X has been enough and working fine for others in comparison

I don't do much bedroom playing. I do love DUG's vibe & those ridiculous bi-amped overdrives. The DP-3X is cool & I'm keeping it. I just won't be using it much right now. I'll give it another shot at some point. I've been curious about it for awhile, so I had to scratch the itch. I'm happy to have it.

I have a 2 regular X's, one on my primary pedal board & one for my backup unit. I don't need the tone controls on the X7, so to me, it's not a move up. I wanted the smallest package possible & the X is perfect is for my needs.

Oh okay...I was concerned at first when you said there was a noise problem. but since you've mentioned that it's not noisy, I guess I don't have to worry about that. still I am debating on getting either the vintage deluxe or the microtubes x7 sometime in the future.
I had a noise problem with a front runner Hyper Luminal due to having an ancient power supply, but my X7 has been quiet from the get go.

i've been dialing in my X7 to sound like an SVT with slight pushed output tube/speaker cab breakup and it sounds awesome. i have a gig this friday and can't wait to use that sound with my band. for me, it's easy for an X7 to cop that type of tone. i expect it to not sound distorted at all with the full band but it adds a certain sheen to the top end.

Please share your sound like an SVT settings... thanks in advance.

here's the "pushed SVT" tone that i was talking about. P Bass thru and SVT7 pro (all tone controls at noon) first bypassed, then engaged.

here's a pic of the X7 with that setting:

I just bought the small X. And it s an swiss army knife to all these enourmous variations of bass overdrive. But i used low drive tube transparent settings.to hear my bass also.
Low pass on 500hz Mix Knob on11 o clock.
Drive only on 9 o clock or even less!. Mid knob on 12.00 or vary to 2 o clock. Now here comes the magic.... the high pass knob is now extremely important!. Between 10
o clock (more drive) and 2 o clock (almost clean)and you have these drive variations. Wich are nice transparent . Also the mid level is here an important counterpart to play with. Love it!!
