This site has helped me a lot. Its costs money to get a product key but its been worth it 1000 times over for me.

Tabit.net

Its different because the program incorporates midi so you can really hear if that tab is right. Its like guitar pro sort of but much cleaner.

Tabit is Windows only.

But a similar program is MidiLogic, which has a Mac and a PC version and only costs $15.
