Just purchased a 1961 Jazz Bass

More like a '64 if it is real. No stacked pots just VVT. Check the neck for date stamp and check the pots. At first glance it looks legit, unique wear by a real person, don't think it is a relic job.

You may have scored the deal of the year. Or not.

Some unusual wear patterns, especially on the back and front lower cutaway.

Something aint right here. 2 grand for a bass thats worth 10 grand or more??

Much looks "correct", but something aint right. Not enough pictures to fully assess it. The stack knobs did end during 61, so it's possible that the VVT is correct. HOWEVER - those are NOT original knobs, not even close.

Again - something aint right and I wouldn't spend a dime unless I had it in my hands and the guy let me completely take it apart.

Concerned that the pickguard has no "shrinkage".

The Fender decal which includes the "offset contour body" is a nice touch if the bass is a fake.

It is no 1961, more like a 1964-1965.
I just looks funny to me, I smell a parts bass.
Some parts may be real, others?
This should be a 10K bass?
2K is still a good price If bass, plays and sounds good.
My rule always buy in person when dealing with a reputed vintage bass.

the pics are of a real vintage Jazz...60-62 according to the slab fingerboard. it also has clay dots...

the images look legit, but I'm curious about the 10 or more thing...

probably a scam, or the seller's account got hi-jacked. ive seen some sweet vintage basses pop up on ebay, but in the description, they'll only sell if you email that address...looks like the same deal to me

And in the ad the guy says "IT APPEARS TO BE" with that right there he is saying hey if you call me back and tell me its not the ad does say "it appears to be" so he can use that as an excuse to try and not refund the money.
