Just realised I am a douche

You know, back in the 1970s Steve Harris ended Iron Maiden just to eliminate some members he didn't care for. He restarted it with the guys he wanted, including Dave Murray, soon after.

If that's the best way to do it, so be it.

Sometimes you have to be a douche to do the right thing.

You're not *really* a d-bag unless you're, say, lying to the band about how much the gig pays so you can pocket the extra, while simultaneously lying to the owner about how you need the extra money so you can pay the rest of the band... (We all know who I'm talking about, don't we?)

Nothing Douche Bag about it

I just did it. I left my old band Double Barrel Hangover, then the guitarist did. he found himself a gig with a houseband and I dabbled in a few bands and now him and I are back together in a new (yet to be named) band playing very similar styles of music including one of our better songs.

sometimes it just takes people to leave the problem than to fire the problem.

I had an old band do a Duuchey <--- (That a word? Is Now!) thing to me. Guitar player and drummer decide it's over and quit, Lead singer chick is going to start a new group and find a new band, I'm left saying I want to keep playing but in my better interest leave the group as well, we split gear and call it a day. Long story short, she has a drummer and guitarist split on her and the new bassist is solid, so I see pics from recent gig we used to play and its the old band minus me!

Total douchery....<----- (I did it again!)

For the record she has been through about 7 band configurations, no member has been with her over a year at this point after 4 years. Old members have gone on they just pulled her out of a rut. Still douchery, but i got over it..... I suppose

I realised that we basically made the douchy split-and-reform move, rather than fire the singer. And okay, different name, slightly different set list and we will rework some arrangements, but still ... Douchy :(
The lack of a plan, coupled with lack of intent, leads me to believe this is more of a coincidental turn of good fortune than it is any level of douche-baggery. Good luck :)

A band I was in did the split-and-reform thing, way back in the day. Except it was the drummer we "didn't fire", not the singer.

I felt pretty douchey about it at the time... especially since the drummer was my roommate at the time. It was pretty uncomfortable for awhile.

Well I saw the ex-singer last Friday, and told him plain and simple that the guitarist and I are talking about a new musical project together. He didn't much care for it, but didn't exactly offer his services either. So that settles that, can't say I didn't tell him about it if and when it happens. Now to see if it will actually happen :)

Man, your title made me laugh. It might as well fit in the "bass humour" section (the title only, not the OP) :D

As for your "move" to get rid of the singer... I would actually call it experimenting with different bands (which you actually did). Maybe your intention was to ultimately rejoin with your rockabilly mates sans the prima donna, but it was an spontaneous move that was fueled only by opportunity. Who knew you would reunite with your old pals? Anything can happen. They could have moved to a different city or be so busy with their other bands that they couldn't form the new project.

Or maybe it was all a machiavellian plan. At least you did get rid of the prima donna, didn't you?
