I often see people on here complaining about the price of basses. Most of these people are living in the USA or the surrounding areas. As someone from Europe (Ireland), I have to say you guys don't know how good you've got it.
Let's take an AmStd Jazz bass:
    http://www.guitarcenter.com/Fender-2012-American-Standard-Jazz-Bass-107630980-i2380130.gc
    American price - $1349=1030euro

    http://www.thomann.de/ie/fender_am_standard_2012_j_bass_mn_blk.htm
    European price - $1807=1379euro

You may say that the two sites are different and therefore the prices are always going to be different. However, thomann is arguably the most popular musical instrument dealer in Europe, certainly the most popular in Ireland. (Local stores price match with thomann)
Obviously this is due to export cost etc. but I just wanted people to realise that what they say is expensive for a bass (of any American company such as Fender, Gibson, Musicman) would be a serious bargain for many of us on the other side of the pond.

  2. More reason to go with a European builder that has the same quality & would undoubtedly be cheaper for you.
