Justice Bass effects?

That sounds pretty good. Unfortunately, what I'm using to record right now is a boss 8 track type of thing. I can't do much in the way of post recording editing on tracks. That's definitely something I intend to fix in the future, but for now I'm looking for more of a stompbox solution that I can use for recording and live. Am I looking for a tube compressor?
I've been fascinated by the bass tone in DANCE too. I think it requires 1) a very quiet but squishy compressor (neither of my compressors can achieve that sound) and 2) a serious EQ - like a 31 band EQ.
Also, I hear a fender bass - either a P bass or a jazz. Could be wrong on that last point, it's just my gut feeling.
I don't hear any discernible fuzz - a little bit a hair maybe, but no fuzz.
I love the sound on D.A.N.C.E. IMO there is no way that that is synth bass, it grooves too hard and you can almost hear the fingers playing it. As many other people have said lots of compression, lots of fuzz and maybe a bit of envelope.
I think it's about impossible to recreate any of the justice-bassounds in a live-setting. Maybe if you would sample them and play with a MIDI-Pickup.
There's just tons and tons of processing over Samples Basslines, really. For D.A.N.C.E there's probably multiple filters, distortion, maybe some bit crushing, and just freakish compression.

I think a big part of the sound on DANCE is side-chained compression. You can hear it opening up opposite the kick drum.

Plug into a Woolly Mammoth sometime, stick it infront of your envelope filter and see how much envelope you've got left. Clue: Same as the number of supermodels I've shagged. Adding a compressor after a fuzz like that would only be done for ironic comedy purposes.
The bass on that track sounds like it's going through quite a peaky filter, or it's otherwise been EQ-ed up to hell, but to me it just sounds like a full-on gated fuzz.
I'm pretty sure that valentine does about as much as those marshall stacks they have.
As far as I can tell from wikipedia and such, all of there sound is coming from Ableton Live and their macs. Which makes me think that that might not be such a bad idea. Does anyone have any experience with Ableton?

We want to be able to get AS CLOSE AS POSSIBLE! As much as it would rock my world to get a live justice bass tone as it was recorded on the album i just dont think its going to happen.
I have been trying to learn a bunch of Justice lines lately and I am really wondering what people think of a Wooly Mammoth getting close to a Justice tone. I have one coming in the mail soon and I would like to know if it will work well getting some different Justice tones and what other pedals would get me even closer.
