Heyyy guys, so I've recently given up on places such as Guitar Center and Sam Ash for my gear and have taken to lurking on Ebay and Craigslist for most of my bass needs and have come to be staring at Kahler trem systems the last few days. So here's the thing. I play an ESP B305FM mainly. 5 piece through neck, Flame maple top, trans black finish and DR Black Beauty strings. Whole thing right now worth about $450 I'll wager; definitely no fantastic boutique bass but definitely gets the job done and then some. So I was mainly curious if you fellas think it would be worth it to put a Kahler 7415 Black Krome trem on it? Should I wait for a "better bass" for the investment of around $200 (found one on ebay). Or is there anything inheretly wrong with this model, and should I go with the newest series, which would ring up about $400 on its own. Its a sorta odd question. But if you were in my position, what would you do?

Kahler Trem on $450 bass?

There is no right or wrong when modifying a bass for your own personal taste. If you want a trem on that bass, get the Kahler bridge.
Plus, you're going to get a lot of mixed opinions on this. Some people will say it's blasphemy and ludicrous, while others will simply tell you to go for it.

too heck with how many dollars the bass is worth, all that matters is how much the bass is worth to you. if you love the bass go for it but if you plan on selling it down the road atleast the kahler will make it more valuable. ive played 1000+ basses i hated and 200 dollar basses i loved. it just depends on what feels, sounds and plays good to you.

I figured I'd get a ton of mixed feelings from the start =/ Just wanted to make sure it wasn't either entirely not possible because of some hardware issue I overlooked, or if it was just an all around bad idea, but seeing as it appears to be neither...I'll start diverting funds soon >:] thanks!
Your bass is easilly as good or better then many more expensive ones imo. Go ahead and add trem to it if you want one.
I'd rather add one on an ESP than a Fender. I have a bass with one, but I don't use it very often anymore because it's too heavy for my bum shoulder. But it's fun to have one.
If you're going to drop a Kahler in a bass, it's going to decrease the value, so better to install it on an inexpensive instrument.
Only in your mind. To everyone else, those instruments have decreased in value. And the more expensive the instrument, the bigger the hit you took.
Word to the wise - the SECOND you plunge a router into your bass, you've significantly decreased the value.
I'd say most people don't see a tremolo as an improvement and would rather have a stock bridge, and to that end while it may bring the value up for some it would bring it down for others.
I bought a Kahler but could never bring myself to install it on any bass that I actually like.
Go for it! but please either get a professional to do it or practice on scrap wood at least 80,000 times before you take it to your bass.
If this is true, you should sell your ritter and alembic for profit and repeat the process.
Pretty much everyone has told the OP to go ahead and throw that Kahler on his ESP, just avoid doing such things on pricey instruments. So I don't know why you're in an uproar.
But regarding instrument mod's - just be aware what you're getting into, and be VERY aware that you'll never recoup your investment. There was a recent thread where a guy had sunk $3,000 into a bass, and was chagrined that he couldn't expect to recoup more than $1,000 when it came time to sell it. This is a very common with people who sink big dough into very personal mod's.

OP, yes I have Kahlered 2 of mine, in my case, the value has not gone down, it made the popularity of my units go up, they are more desirable to those who love Kahlers.
They are fun playtoys to wank on, and usable tools to play with if your creative... do it
