MiniMoose234 said:There was a problem with the pickup, it would cut in and out and was obviously faulty. Shipped it out to kala, and got it back in about 2 and a half weeks. Good as new.
Also, took out the frets the other night, with pretty much no problem! Been doing setups and electrical repairs on instruments for a while, this was the first major mod I've done. Very proud haha
I've been looking online for veneer to use to fill in the fret slots with, anyone have a recommendation of where to get it? I can find t tons of places, I just don't need an absolute ton of it for this, obviously.
Rocking it rockabilly style would put it pretty much where you hang your u_bass.Funny. I don't think I could play that bass. Too small! But looks like Ubass strings and scale.

If you put a vid up we NEED info about it. Not cool teasing us like that!
Here's the Web site of the QuarterBass builder with some pics and a little info. Yes, those are Pahoehoe strings on the QuarterBass.

Just finished defretting my SUB! Not a perfect job, but it was my first defret and there weren't any catastrophic failures, still plays fantastic, even neck, and even more fun to play. I know it's a pretty common mod in the bass world, but I'm proud of her.
.....
As often mentioned I play with extended fingerings. And the right hand sort of coordinates itself with the left hand:
....All would be fine and well, hadnt a tendon seat in the border area between the right palm and wrist started hurting after a weekend with much bass playing.
Any experiences about avoiding pains from bass playing?

Looking for a properly pre amp too.
I read about grounding and something called as "armoring" around here to steel strings eletric instruments. But nothing about eletric-acoustic instruments.

That's better. I enjoyed it so much I just put a bid in on a broken 1/4 size cello in Ebay.
You might not believe it reading what many people here say, but a preamp is NOT needed for many players.
"Armoring" is what we call "shielding".
It means that there must be a continuous grounded (earthed) metal shield (usually braided) around the center signal conductor from the pickup to the amp.
If you think there might be a problem with your bass, you can remove the panel on the back of the bass and inspect the silver cable from the bridge pickup to the end pin output jack.
You can also email Kala, Ryan in technical support is an excellent resource and very helpful.
Dave, thanks for your concerning.
Last night i was giging with some friends plugged with another cord (tried anothers) in a Staner Stage Dragon Bx 200 and the "hum" remains.
I plugged a U$90 Bass in this setup and the noise stoped.
I read about shielding (the right word, thanks!) but never in Acoustic instrument.
I don't know how to identify some problem on the Silver cable. I already looked.
