Kappalite 3015 alternative

A lot of those Dayton woofers are a great value. The one TJSlice linked is actually on the border of what I'd use for bass...it's really a peculiar woofer though, with incredibly low Fs and simultaneously very low Q (which indicates early rolloff in the upper bass area).

It has very high inductance as well, so I'd expect it to have a weird spiky midrange with an abrupt rolloff. For reference the inductance is close to 4x that of a 3015LF which is unsuitable in the mids.

Really a strange woofer--probably a bad choice for most bass guitar rigs without a dedicated midrange. It might sound good to some folks though :)

Here is a freq. response comparison of the 3015 vs the PA380. I might like to try one, actually. I dunno if that peak would sound mid-rangey, or freaking terrible :D

wondering what main differences are with non pro (94.00 vs 130.00) for beside low freq response and, I reckon better heat dissipation with the cast alum frame?

Don't mean to hijack(lol) but like learning about these crossover designs.. am working on several prototype speakers cabs and need help regarding the best 15 (out of the ones I have) for a possible bass rig sem-sub 15 wondering if i could build a crossover to x-over (low pass) with slightly higher roll-off point to send to 15, have ev 15b 15L, delta pro clone (yam15), or a black widow would prolly use a 12L or Delta pro 12 (in separate cab) for top (mid-highs) or a 2-10 would the sound level balance out with a low/mid-high pass 2nd order crossover for the upper cab? or would It be better to run 2 amps eq'd accordingly and no crossovers?
I may tune to drop c# on occasion..

allegedly the Legend CB158 is good for smaller cabs... have never tried one yet, but may for this sunn 200s (dean marley front mounted clone) I have

thanx arjank.. appreciate it.. will have to try to find the displacement of the 200s, it basically has 2 chambers that vent <45degree slants(s)> horizontally in the center... if anyone knows what size these chambers may be , let me know if possible..
I temporarily adapted w/ DIY adapter rings, and have limited the size of the vents by about 2/3rd's; 2 Delta 12LF's out of an avatar vented diagonal 212 w/tweeter, (which I generally don't use much of the tweets period) which seems to work pretty good and has decent high mids

Great Thanx.. approx what size was the cab/port(s) vent? am thinking of going back to 15's (the legend cb158 in this 200s clone i have) has been temporarily slightly modified to reduduced venting size (front mounted dean markley)

I recently picked up an SVT 15e used. A previous owner had its 15 swapped out for an Eminence Legend 158. I was very impressed with the sound. Full, rounded bottom end and a surprisingly clear high end. The clank from my Ric really fits well with it. I ordered a second for the other cab.

Yes, I hear different stories on how the upper mid & highs sound on the cb158's and the delta pro12LF's too.. they both allegedly drop off around 3k.. but I actually had to cut the treble a little on the delta12LF's when I ran them in the modded 200s clone I have, when running it with a SVTCL
Am Highly curious how the legend 15's would sound.. the darn thing came with Force 15's.. and I kinda liked it for guitar with those in it..

Nice, have 1 of those svt 115e's too... got it used with a BW1502-4 in it.. have heard/read that they are designed for a 15 delta pro, but it seemed pretty ok with the BW so far... however, have not tried it with drop tuning(s) yet

I used 2 of the the 3in. plastic ports. I started with somewhat long tubes, thinking I wanted a lower tuning. Lost some power, and therefore volume, with that thinking. Shortened up the tubes. Sounds better. There's no one exact port size that is optimal. Ya gotta tune with your ears.

Did u add an extra port? mine came with only 2 of those 3" - chers.. unless I miss counted.. lol
