Keeley Compressor No Line Level? Help me with My rig

Hi everyone.
This is my first post. I have been lurking for a while but just joined.

After doing hours of research on what compressor to get I purchased a Keeley compressor (2 knob version) on ebay and it is to arrive on Tuesday. I have rehearsal on Wednesday and a gig on Thursday.

Stupidly of me I did not read the manual before buying it and just saw that it says it will not work well after a preamp, in an effects loop or with line level.

That is a big problem for me because my (unusual) set up is:
Ibanez bass with active Bartolini pickups (and fender tape wound strings) > MXR M80 preamp > TC electronic Fireworx (I use some outrageous effects) > *compressor* > Powered PA speakers. The compressor is not there yet and the reason I am searching for one is to compress the effected signal which is balanced line level and could use some focus and punch. The outrageous effects got totally lost at our last gig. I asked some musician friends in the audience if the effects were too much and they replied, "you were using effects?". I was hoping for, "Those were the most outrageous effects I have ever heard on bass guitar"

I am worried that I just wasted $180 and will not have the fat sound I am looking for. Sure I could try to sell it again to recoup.

Does anyone have suggestions of how I could make the Keeley work with this rig? Or am I better off shelling out for a dbx 160A (that shows my budget - would rather be able to shell out for a destressor).

Any ideas?
Thanks all.
