Keeping time while soloing

Thanks @bass12 for the recommendation! It means a lot! I’m in Scotland but I’m doing online teaching as well as in person again so where I am doesn’t matter where I’m at or anybody else is! And I have spaces available for any interested party.

All I ask is that you put the work in because as I’m sure some of the folk on here I work with will tell you: You can’t fake your way through the work I set you!

Thanks very much man, as it would happen I found out yesterday a mate I went to school with is back home and a very accomplished bassist! Went to Berkely and played all over the place... Stupidly talented lad. I reached out last night and booked in for lessons on Monday! As were mates, I gave him full permission to rip the piss out of me.

Looking forward to my first real lesson ever, just 20 years late!

This looks like a big win for you. The only advice I'd give is to record your lessons, because you will probably miss something while the lesson is going on. I know from experience that it will be hard to listen to, but the goal is make sure you understand the concepts.

Also, just do what he says. I studied with a pretty accomplished teacher and many times I saw some of his students try to challenge what he was telling them because their ignorance of music got in their own way.

Yeah 100% man, lol I was a bit nervous asking a friend I hadn't seen in some time... But I said feck it, this is what I've wanted for years so doesn't matter and just be a sponge.

Lol Irish law I'll need to ask him if he's cool with me recording though but it's a great idea. I don't have a lot of spare time so if there is something I miss or forget I don't want to be hounding him as he's really busy which is great.

So looking forward to it man!
