Kitchy music venues to avoid

The Problem is, there are so many musicians in Nashville, the club owners know they can get people to play for tips! It is disgusting how they take advantage of musicians wanting to be seen!

It would all stop if people would quit playing those places, but that will never happen. The same principle applies to venues/establishments across the country who expect a plumber to show up for free to fix their toilets too. Oh wait... they will never get a plumber to show up for free!

Did you buy pizza in Italy??? If not, you didn't miss much...if you did, you'll have realized pizza in the US and Canada is FAR better. It wasn't until after I tried Italian pizza (in Italy) that I found out pizza as we know it was actually from Chicago, or so the rumor goes.

Have to almost agree... went to Milan, Bologna, Florence, & Venice a couple years back and wasn't thrilled with any of the pizza there - the sandwiches were generally great tho I met a gamba player from Naples who swore that 'the only real pizza in Italy' was in his neck of the woods.
PS: I will personally go on the record slagging CANADIAN pizza as it's heavy crust filler food 90% of the time...

Not sure how this discussion veered into pizza, but after consuming most of a 12 inch beauty on the western edge of Nashville, I am curious where Music Town fits on a scale between Memphis and Branson.

This thread gives me such emotional validation...I was dragged to Branson for family vacations numerous times from ages 2 to 9.

"...everything will have marketing attached, both before, during intermissions, and afterwards on your way out."


Could not have described it better myself. I had fonder memories of Golden Corral as a kid

To the OP -- In Nashville, go to the Musicians Hall Of Fame museum to see some inspiring instruments and gear ( Joe Osborn's bass!). Then check out the music stores - Gruhn's, Carter Vintage, Rumbleseat, Fanny's.

Go see music at Bluebird Cafe and Rudy's Jazz Room (it's not always jazz).

To me the scene on Broadway in Nashville is just a step removed from Branson.

I was in a music store in Nashville and Wille Weeks walked in. You have never seen somebody hang a bass back on the wall as quickly as I did in that moment.
