Update: I lubed these basses yesterday and played with them a lot. Today they have both really loosened and are flipping out very well. These are cheap knives, but they are very usable.

Update: I lubed these basses yesterday and played with them a lot. Today they have both really loosened and are flipping out very well. These are cheap knives, but they are very usable.
I need recommendations for a "cheap" belt/pocket clip EDC knife.
Let's face it. I abuse knives. I use them for everything you can imagine. A hammer, pry bar, flat-head screwdriver, letter opener, are just a few of the misuses I inflict on my EDC knife. I wind up ruining them in a matter of 6 or 8 months.
So I usually wind up buying a couple a year. But I get WAY more than my money's worth out of them. They are an extension of my hand. I whip my knife out a dozen times daily.
I'm looking to slightly upgrading from the $30 knives I generally carry. My only requirements are as follows.
1) Partially-serrated blade. I need the kind of blade that is straight at the far end and serrated near the handle.
2) Pocket clip.
3) Not too heavy.
4) "Medium" size. I just don't want a big knife. The one I carry now has a 3" blade. I could go to 3 1/2" or so. But 5" or 6" would be too big.
My parents and in-laws are already starting to ask me what I want for Christmas. I'm thinking of putting them both on a knife. Maybe the $60-$80 range? Possibly a tad more?

Spyderco military from their seconds sale. 50/50 blade and only $75 Workhorse and lite.
Ozark Trail (Walmart) Axis Lock (Shaft Lock) update: after a week of lube and playing with them; I have got these knives pretty loose. I gave them some light strokes with my diamond rod and a whole lot of stropping, and the blades are actually sharp know. My wife gave me some boxes to break down this evening and the blades sailed through the cardboard. I know it won’t keep an edge like a premium steel, but this knife is very functional. It is a fun project knife for a knife nut like me, and a great present for someone who would not truly appreciate a more expensive knife.

My Grandfather had an old pocket knife with a Candy Stripe handle most of the time I knew him... a bunch of years back, I had a tiny fixed blade made by a guy that had a bunch old stock, but it was really too small to be useful. I gave it to the wife since she has a bunch of them herself. Well I was polishing some of her collection and got nostalgic again 
I found a retailer in Texas with a Case Gunstock and Peanut knives BNIB with Candy Stripe handles... limited release of 500 each model in 2004. I bought one of each (the wife got the Peanut). Here is couple of my current 'nice' knives. Custom Shop Buck 110, my custom MHK fixed blade, a little Gerber folder (I forget the model) I picked up last year, and the new 2004 USA Case Gunstock. I did just order another fixed blade from the guy who made the wife's knife... but he has a 10-12 month lead time... so that is next years knife splurge.

Large Gunstock... about a 1/4 inch shorter than the Trapper. Very similar knives.
This looks really interesting. Kizer’s Clutch Lock is their take on the Axis Lock, it comes with spare springs and is adjustable. I will get one these eventually.
I bought another budget Axis style knife, Ganzo Firebird 7561 above. At $22, it is incredibly well made and came very sharp. The spring is stiffer than a Benchmade, but it is 1/7 the price of even a cheap Benchmade.
Just picked this up Saturday at the Spyderco seconds sale. Sharp teeth!
For a versatile well made EDC folder I'm a big fan of the Bugout. I flipped for the carbon fiber to save a couple of nanograms because I'm a knife geek.
CRKT CEO Flipper. Carries like a pen in my pocket. Great for work.
My current bushcraft/rough camping rig, along with a small forest axe or folding saw.

The 2 folders are, the little fixed blade was made a bunch of years back by a guy I met on a knife making forum.

I inherited this Fairbairn Sykes pattern 3 from my grandfather. The marlin spike is an 11" that Brion Toss (rip) used have custom forged. The knife is just a collector piece but the spike has gotten used regularly for a lot of years.
