Maybe not part of the original topic, but one thing the drives me nuts with GEQ's is the bands are typically not set in places that work well for me - for instance, I used to have one where it went right from 500Hz to 1kHz... Really no in-between? I'd rather have a four band EQ with the bands placed in more usable locations for me (for example: 80Hz, 220Hz, 800Hz, and 2kHz).

Think of these as tools for cutting rather than boosting. I doubt you listed these frequencies because you want to cut them out.

Sliders are good for stereos, PA's anything full range. IMO toys on a bass amp.

Faders are only toys when you call them sliders.

So we were on a break and some guy comes up with his girlfriend and starts asking me about my Peavey Mark 6 amp and how I had it set up. (Two knobs and about six sliders.) I was explaining about how I had it set for some mid boost and how that helped it cut through the mix well. The girlfriend was just staring forlornly at the amp throughout the conversation. As soon as the guy and I finished talking the girl looks at me and asks "Why did you make it look so sad?" Knobs for me these days.

May be due to small Q-Factor like 1.4?

K, well, you'd be wrong... My two favorite tones are: 1) Boost in upper mids, slight boost in treble, flat in low mids, and a cut on the bass, or 2) nearly full cut of upper mids, flat treble, and boost in bass and lower mids...

I rarely, if at all, keep all bands at the same level, and I usually try to balance them so if I boost one band by +3 db's, then I'll try to cut that 3 db's out of another band or multiple bands combined.
