korg pitchblack rack tuner

Hi guys , I never used a tuner other than the snark ones that you clip on guitar they work ok but I decided to upgrade to the korg pitchblack rack tuner , it works perfect but I don't know how to connect it so that I can keep my bass connected to amp so I won't have to tune bass in the korg and then unplug and plug it back in amp can anyone help me please ??? Here is what I know my amp has a tuner input in the back

I use the tuner out jack from my preamp and send that to the input on the back.

Exactly. Just keep in mind there's no auto muting. Tuner is on all the time, and you'll hear your bass all the time.

Praisegig's suggestion about the foot switch solves this.

When using the tuner out of your amp into the tuner input, you have to mute the signal at your amp, not at the tuner. The Epifani has a mute in the amp and on the pedal control.

The mute on the tuner would work if you sent the signal through the tuner and then to the amp.

If you don't have a mute on the amp (I don't on my SVT II) just turn down the volume to 0 while tuning. No big deal. The tuner will be 'tuning' while your playing so it's easy to look back at your amp on an open whole note to spot check things during a performance if you need to.

Full disclosure, I've got another tuner on my pedalboard (ST-300) because I like redundancy, but it also give me the mute when I want it.

Your signal is going through the pedal then to the amp. Not so when you hook it up coming out of the tuner out jack from your amp.

I have the Pitchblack rack tuner as well and it performs admirably. I utilize the tuner out function on my amp as detailed above. Since I'm never more than a few steps away from my rig generally, I just use the mute button on the front of my amp. Works for me...as long as you have that option!

I noticed on my older Korg 1000 rackmount that the tuner "sucked" some of the sound running my bass into it and then to the amp. It was significant enough to do something about it. Ended up using an A/B box that would completely mute any signal to the amp and FOH. Not sure about the newer ones, but may be worth a listen to see.

I had the Korg DTR-1. I always wanted a rack tuner. The zippy red light, zinging back and forth. Or the spinning strobe function. So eighties! So cool!

And in 2007 I finally got one, used, right here on TB! So eighties! So cool! Better late than never!

I ran it always on fed via the tuner out on my GK 1001. I'd hit the mute button on the amp to tune if it needed to be quiet. But if I was sending to FOH via my MXR-M80 di, signal still hit the PA. If I turned the bass off, no signal to the tuner.

In the end, I put a $10 planet waves mini tuner on my head stock and sold the rack tuner.
The rack adventure was fun, but I think things are moving on towards smaller lighter gear. Which is why you can set up a pretty killer rack for not much dough.

My Zoom B3 has a nice tuner and it can be set up to mute the whole unit while tuning.
