i'm glad some people are actually commenting on the original posters topic instead of talking about how bad cobain (and billy corgan!) were on their instruments of choice.

krist, solid bass player, great tone, played exactly what was called for. 1 of 3 in possibly the most influential band of the 90s.

maybe cobain didn't think he was a good guitarist but i thought he was. no one will convince me otherwise.

I've always like nirvana and there sound and some of Krist's bass lines were simple yet they worked so good for the song.

Krist's basslines were usually quite simple. However they were perfect. It really is a shame that he quit making music after Cobain died.

Not entirely true: Eyes Adrift put out one fantastic record.

I'm gonna say it, compared to today's music, ANY player from the 90's and earlier are good players. Even if they suck.

Krist was every part of Nirvana that Cobain was IMO, his technique was a mess, his gear was terrible, but he's an example that all that stuff doesn't matter as long as you have the drive to play, that you can sound great with whatever.

I really like his dark tone in "Milk It", it almost completely changes the atmosphere of what could've been an utter crap song. His lines along with Dave Grohl's pulsating drum beat give it a creepy, almost morbid sound. I also think that his lines ruined Cobain's intention of "In Utero" being a crap album, while Kurt played as sloppy as possible, Krist gave the guitar lines some shape. He was a great bass player for what did in Nirvana, really propelled that band despite what some say that he was the weakest member.
