Krist from Nirvana

I was listening to Heartshaped box last night and I was really shocked by how good/big he sounds and then later in the song during one of the choruses he sounded all fuzzed out it was awesome. does anyone else share some love for him or know what he uses for dirt?

You also got to give Chris credit for tossing Kurt's guitar in the the air, not once but twice, swinging his bass like a baseball bat, missing horribly only to have the guitar land smack dab in the middle of his forehead.

He was a decent bass player that probably gets slightly overlooked most of the time due to the music's simplistic nature. Most of his basslines are very basic and follows the guitar, but can you imagine listening to a Nirvana album with a bunch of bass noodling all over the place? It just wouldn't sound fitting what so ever.

I'm not saying nirvana should have had dream theatre solos, but cobain's guitar playing still is awful. He could have played the very same things 10 times better if he had worked on his technique a bit more. Not only that but his guitar riffs are very simplistic, granted dream theatre solos wouldnt work, but he kepts his riffs at his own guitar playing level, when he could have IMHO done much better stuff.

Kobain had a good voice, but he wasnt a talented guitar player...

He had good voice for Nirvana or grunge style, it's what made Nirvana a "Nirvana." But as for the rest of the music I think his voice sucked. His playing wasn't too impresive either. But he wrote some really good tunes...

Who cares man, if he played guitar like Cantrell it wouldn't be Nirvana anymore.

Ever saw Dylan live in the 60's? The man couldn't keep time live even if his life depended on it. Yet no one is saying that Dylan could have been better if he played guitar like Clapton or mouthharp like Sonny Terry.

Krist was the dude that got me playing bass a few years ago and i still notice things in his lines now that have never stood out before.

+1

Nirvana wouldn't be Nirvana without everything that was put into it and they way that it was all put in.
