I know of only a very few complete guitars that he made outside of his Fender days. They are VERY pricey and look handcrafted. I'd say that's a neck only. He made LOTS of those.

+1

There is one Ebay shop here in Germany that has had a stratocaster with a Kubicki neck on it on the bay for a long time now. They claim it's all made by Phil, but to me it just appears to be a regular strat with a fine handmade neck stuck on!

I can't believe that no one has done an article on Phil. I have given serious thought to doing it, there is quite a story there. It would be ideal for a pub like Fretboard Journal.

As for the Hendrix Strat, Phil told me Jimi passed before they could get it to him. I know he made George Harrison's famous rosewood Tele. I believe he got his start at a young age with Rickenbacher, and when his mentor moved to Fender he took Phil with him. There is a Mosrite connection in there too somewhere. People don't realize his expertise with acoustic instruments, that is a whole story in itself.

I am new to the forums but have had this lovely blue ex-factor since 1997. And my internet handle almost as long :)

Everything in that pic except the factor has long since been sold off, but I could never let it go. Eventually I got back into playing and I'm glad I kept it!

Would kill to find a fretless one in blue to match it :D

My first Kubicki was a fretless blueburst...traded a Yamaha TRB6P for it but never played it and sold it off along time ago. Waiting to receive a black Ex-Factor any day now! :hyper:
