Kubicki club?

Make lefties no matter the circumstances. Many threads about companies that refuse to make lefty models involve Kubicki as one of the first said choices.

Oh, now I understand. Yes, I can see that being somewhat of a problem for him as I'd guess that he makes the necks and bodies in batches, then follows with to the finishing and assembly process to fulfill orders.

I guess it ain't easy being a southpaw is it? :(

I'll be gigging with my Kubicki later today at the Boulder Creek Arts and Wine Festival with my wife, Lady Bo. We play a one hour show from 5-6 p.m. It will be the first gig in a long while that I've used the Kubicki and I'm looking forward to it.

Eh, sometimes. If you get into the cooler side of bass, like Kubicki's stuff, then it can be disappointing.

I've yearned.. And yearned.. The wait is almost over! My Kubi will be here next week! I'll join the brotherhood soon.

I just realized: I have no IDEA how to change strings! I know it's complicated, but there's no help online - no guides on Phil's site. Nothing in the reviews anywhere.

HELP!!!

Hi Tim

feel free to ask if you need any help

regards,
charles

Hi, Charles

I bought GDCX's post-Fender black Kubi. He's shipping Saturday, I'll be hopping up and down at the door all day Wednesday like a kid holding back a monster peepee, searching the horizon for the UPS truck...

I only know what I've heard about changing strings: catches; releases; gears; spools; wheels; bend the string here; re-bend it there... I just don't want to screw anything up on day one! isn't there a guide somewhere?

I've had a total of 4 throughout the years. Two have been sold on TB, a Red fretted and a Black fretless. I currently have two, both black. One pre-Fender (6XX) and one post-Fender (35XX). The great thing is that the newer one came with the Kubicki manual, which he doesn't seem to have on his website. Not sure why.

Nothing in there about changing the strings though. That's more of a trial and error sort of thing. Really easy to do though. Take a look at the strings already on the bass when you go to restring to get an idea.

go to his website and send him an email or give him a call.

Last year I exchanged some e-mail messages with Mr. Kubicki since I asked him for a quote on a brand-new Ex Factor. He told me that he was backordered and even told me that he was going to put my request on his priority list without asking for an advance payment. This year, I've sent him two e-mail messages asking for an update and he hasn't replied back. :atoz:
