I requested a manual Friday for my coming Kubi and got an email back yesterday asking where to send it...

Not an owner here but I was at an open mic a couple weeks ago and a cat there was playing one of the original prototypes (so he said). He said it was just a Factor. No Key or EX and it was blue. Nice sounding bass. He was a decent player. I woulda loved to hear him 'slap' on it but he wasn't a slapper. He was a rock guy (odd seeing a rocker playing a Kubicki).
I bought #035 from it's original owner. Notice the neck p/u is butted up against the neck. The electronics were different too, in that the active output was way hot and the passive was weaker. The control cavity was a different shape too. This was supposedly the 3rd ExFactor sold, the 1st to JT and the 2nd to a player in Nashville.
BTW, Phil says he started his #'s at 011 (get it?)

If anyone has an Ex Factor they want to sell please let me know.
They pop up on 'that auction site' every now and then. There are two on there right now.
Please let me know the link
I'm looking for one as well
thanks,
Charles
Wow that thing has seen some action! What's up with the forearm shield or rather forearmguard?
Also, I don't get why he started at 011?![]()
I sure will. He did say he bought it a long time ago.Well, here's one of Phil's protos (ExFactor) that was JT's of DuranDuran\Powerstation:

It's #024. So that dude's would have had to be #011-023. Check the back of his headstock at the next open mic!![]()
That is just an experimental paint job, it's original. The previous owner was a monster and , at least while he played this bass, loved to slap. That is worn into the wood!
As far as 11 goes, think Spinal Tap.

The Blueburst one IMHO is way overpriced for it's condition (couple of cracks in finish).
I'd verify with the seller if it's an FCS, Pre\Post or 'transition' period.
They state in the listing that it has the 18V pre, but then states that it's a 1990 FCS?
I know it's possible it could be an FCS that was built with leftover parts, especially the early ones. But I'd ask for pics of the body cavity to verify just to be sure you're not paying $1500 for a average condition FCS ExFactor.
The white one still has 5 days on it and it's already almost $800! That will most definitely go for over $1200 by auction end.
BTW I am in no way affiliated to either of these auctions. I'm just a Kubicki fan and have an 'auto search' set up so I'm notified every time someone puts one up!
Yea that blue one has some serious damage for that price.
That white one had a bin price around 1200 but the description did not say if it was a Fender then someone put a bid on it and the bin price went away. I'm pissed at myself I did buy it as it will probably go for a lot more now.
If anyone has an Ex Factor they want to sell please let me know.
Here's mine----I'm going to sell it...
