If anyone is looking I just saw this on craigslist: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]
I don't know the seller but I asked price range and he around $1300-1500 cash or partial trades.

Sorry for the delay on this guys, but here a few pics of the fretless Ex-Factor I obtained last month. It was a bit of an impulse buy, when it came up I had to ask if I felt like waiting around for the next one to show up and I didn't, so I moved on it.

So far I am very happy with it - no regrets at all. I've had a few fretless basses in the past but never stuck with them very long. This one I know I'll be keeping. It's a little challenging getting the intonation right but it sounds really good and is very, very sensitive to technique. Things like the string growl on the fingerboard, the level of mwah and buzziness etc - very much a player's bass. And of course it plays like a Kubicki, which we all know is rad :D

This one is one of the early Custom Shop models with the 18v pre. check it out.

I agree! That's a nice piece of wood there. The unlined fretboard intimidates me a bit but I don't think it would look quite right otherwise.

Thanks Z you know it did me too, but I tell you I am really learning to use my ears like never before with this bass. plus it also has cheater dots on the top of the neck :D

Hi Folks!

I have the chance to get an '85 Kubicki ES-Factor (I guess it's 1st year of the Factor). I live in Argentina and this instrument are quite a rare find... the guy sells it for U$S 2700, is this a good price?

The bass condition is 8,5/10, is fully functional, what do you think?

I hope you could give me a hand with this, sorry for my weak english!

Hey sovtek! I would say $2700 might be a bit high in the US but that bass is going to be pretty rare anywhere in South America. Also the pre-Fender era Kubickis are considered very sought-after. I notice they tend to be in poorer condition compared to later Kubickis. If the one you are looking at is really 8.5/10 that would be very good.

A curious question for all fellow Ex Factor owners: How often do you use the E string at full length (open D)? In which situations? Thank you for your input!

I just enjoy having the bass with the D there. When I'm playing I have on occasion forgotten I had the lever off, but you know, if you just apply your head its really cool.

And, occasionally, I can then hit the brown note....

It's a beautiful bass but what does the "R" mean?

Oh..haha. That is the "R" from our band name logo. I am thinking of putting the red "R" at the end of "Factor" instead of the head stock. My band mates love that bass so it has become my main axe now and the Soundgear is the backup. I need to get another Factor for a backup so I don't have to deal with the significantly different feel of the necks.
