Kubicki club?

Yeah, switching can get tricky. I always overshoot the low G, F# and F because of the shorter scale for a little bit. ;+)
I would love to get a natural finish Kubicki for the primary but I also love Status and want one with a natural finish and wrap around LEDs. I loved my S2-Classic licensed Washburn until I broke the truss rod nut. It is now a wall ornament :( Its neck has a similar feel to the Kubicki.

Here is my Kubicki.

Hey CL where did you score that? Just curious. I live in Austin too you'll have to let me know when you play out I'd love to hear it.

I'm not a sports guy so a Raiders bass doesn't do it for me at all. When you compare it to CLPalacio's "Darth Vader" bass above there is no comparison for me. The Factor's silhouette is more than enough. The graphics just get in the way. A little too gaudy for me.

Yeah dude I totally agree with you. Sometimes I think sports fans can be incredibly tacky, I mean it's a musical instrument not a friggin ball cap. I'll be surprised if someone actually bids that much. I'd be more interested in the other Ex-Factor that appears to have some cheesy 80's graphic going on.

I stand corrected! :o

According to Phil, at one point he used a dark adhesive to laminate the necks but went back to transparent after a short time. I asked him about this when checking out a bass with the dark adhesive which I had not seen up until then. There were other occasional variations. I have a fretless neck that has an ebony veneer on the back of the headstock. He claimed to have done a few of these "because he felt like it."

So....how and when did you get turned on to these basses? For me, it was in the mid 80s when I saw John Taylor play one in the Power Station. I also saw another 80s band Cock Robin play one in their video. I was a fan ever since. Took me until 1997 to finally buy one.

Cock Robin<---if you can see past sexy Anna, you can see Peter playing :D

That's an easy one for me. We have a similar story. I was definitely influenced by seeing John Taylor in Power Station and the Live Aid performances with his Kubicki but what really sealed the deal was the 1987 Strange Behaviour tour. Oh man, I was 14 or 15 and my older buddy took me with him to Irvine Meadows. We were RIGHT NEXT to one of the sidefills in the cheaper seats and that Factor sounded MASSIVE! I was in love with that tone ever since. I didn't get one til around 2003. It's one that I will never let go.
