Hello everybody. I'm looking to upgrade my rig because I'm wanting more headroom than my Fender Bassman 250 can provide. I like the tone on it's own and paired with my BDDI, but in rehearsal with my band, I'm running it at max to keep up. Mids boosted and everything.

Anyway, some of the Kustom brand stuff has caught my eye. I'm considering the KXB500 bass head and either two of the Deep End 1x15's or one 1x15 and a 2x10. However, both of these cabinets are offerred in Neo versions with Eminence speakers. My current amp has an Eminence speaker and has great tone, though it is not a neo speaker. In your opinion, is the extra cash for the Eminence loaded cabinets worth it? And as a side note, do you prefer 2 15's or a 15 with 2 10's?

For reference, I prefer a more old school sound, tubey. I tend to roll off the highs. I'm no Victor Wooten, more Geezer Butler or John Paul Jones.

Here's the Kustom website. Invalid Link Removed

Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks.

I also prefer a vintage tone ... Highs are for guitards. LOL. That said, I love me a good ported 2x15. I also have a sealed Ampeg 8x10 and for smaller gigs would rather hear/feel the 2x15 than an 8x10. I always put the 2x15 on top of the 8x10 with both of them on their sides if I need both for any given gig, as I prefer the punch and depth of the 15's at ear level rather than vice versa.

I know next to nothing about Kustom but just wanted to pass along the fact that more surface area on your cones if going to make WAY more difference than how many watts your head can produce will. Cheers.
