Just wanted to share with my fellow TB members one of the best under $100 new purchase deals I've ever gotten.
I finally purchased one of these little Kustom PW50 mini PA speakers off MF after lusting for one for over a year since using the one owned by a guy who jams with me as an acoustic duo on a regular basis. I thought I would share what a good value these little things are with my fellow TB members.
When we first started jamming together we were playing through my bass amp and his very expensive Bose L1 for the acoustic guitar and vocals. After a while we added in this little Kustom speaker he had and ultimately we ditched the Bose completely because the Kustom actually sounded better and could handle a basic jam all on it's own.
Anyway a few weeks ago he needed to order some stuff from MF and asked me if I wanted him to order another Kustom PW50 for me. They were on sale for $89 bucks so I jumped on it.
Came in a couple of weeks ago and I am absolutely blown away by the tone for vocals we get out of linking these two little speakers together (which also provides 4 total mic inputs and 4 instrument inputs!). We can also add a subwoofer, but for now this for vocals, a small bass amp and guitar amp all linked are all we need. For a total of under $200, these two speakers blow away his over a grand Bose L1 system.
We also both play in a little rock band and we actually used one of these as our PA and eventually two when mine came in a couple of weeks ago for vocals at practice until we finally bought a practice PA for the band this week. The single speaker was definitely challenged keeping up to a full drum kit, bass and three guitars, but it held it's own for two weeks. The two speakers linked together had no issue whatsoever keeping up with all of the above. Not a full PA, but will do in a pinch. The bonus is these can also be used as personal vocal monitors off a PA system or bass amp.
I'm also using it for acoustic guitar and vocal practice, as a mandolin amp, practice bass amp and for playing music through my tablet out on the deck (it sounds awesome). The only thing it is missing to be perfect is a headphone outlet for practice, but I have a BA108 for that
