I was hoping to get a sound clip up this weekend. I was starting to do it Sunday night and got a phone call my grandfather passed away. I am with my family this week on the east coast so the video has to be put off till I get back.

The crew is still in the shop this week so business as usual!

They're making new strings faster than I can try them. :hmm:

Love to hear an ABC comparo of these. I imagine white or bronze may work really well on ABGs? I currently have a set of black tapes on mine but imagine the brighter strings might throw a bit more volume.

I just received mine today. Here are a couple of pics installed on my Carvin LB76F. The variation you see in the color is due to my ineptness with the camera, not the strings. They went on very nicely, with only a little change to the intonation & almost no change to the action. I did have to lower the pickups on the low B side a bit as the bass response is stronger than on the D'Adarrio half rounds that I normally run. They feel good, and sound great! I will be doing some tracks in the studio in the next couple of days and will post them here. Frank

These Copper Tapewounds look terrific. I'm going to have to try a set, and I'm not ashamed to say that I want them partially because they look incredible :D

I just put a set of La Bella White Nylon Tapes (Stainless) on my Franken-parts P Bass (Generic body, Fender Jazz neck, Chi Sonic) and I am really enjoying them. I've only had them on for a few days, but they seem to be breaking in very nicely. I can hear a bit more nuance & character in the mids now than when they were first installed, and I anticipate that they may open up even more. This is my first experience with Tapewounds (though I've tried them on basses in stores) and these La Bella White Nylons have exceeded my expectations. Cranked up, they get a wonderfully full fundamental tone with a subtle touch of high mid presence. Punchy but soft if that makes any sense.

And the feel is incredible: Low tension for vibrato or bends but the string has enough stiffness that you can dig in with the right hand, (no flopiness at all) and soooo smooth on your fretting fingers.

I wonder if Jason (Slapinfunk) could compare the highs of the Copper with the Stainless versions. I love the balance of the Stainless and wouldn't want to lose TOO much in the clarity department, but somewhere between a traditional Black tape sound and the Whites might be kind of nice.

it's a very cool time in the evolution in string technology

it's the ONLY reason ultra short scales are viable

I want these for my Fodera Imp 5 fretless 36" scale - I know they make an XL set but all the usual sites don't specify that choice yet

I also just got a set of classical guitar strings - nylon steel wound which I put on a 1960's Kay nylon string guitar now tuned same pitch as a bass with high B & E

These strings were made for this bass!

I just put them on (.050 - .105), and they feel really flexible, almost too much so. I hope I will get used to them, because they sound yummy. Much brighter then I anticipated; almost like rounds. The thicker gauge won't fit, I'm afraid, so this will have to do.
Tomorrow I will know how they hold up in a live situation.
