I read 1 or two reviews on the labella rx nickels and they were both a little wishy washy so I thought I share this quick review with you guys.
1. I recorded this video right after I put em on, to me they were and still are bright enough for a variety of styles. There are a number of techniques you can incorporate to make a string sound dead but they have to be alive to give you some versatility. All strings rang true except for the b which seemed a little less even....
2. ...at first. After about a week of good playing all strings were even, happy and alive.
3. Lifespan is a huge thing for most ppl, I think I practice and play a little more than average and a little harder than average on my strings and after 3 months (old video I just posted) they don't still sound the same but they are still very much alive.
4. Tone - the video was recorded on an iPhone and played through a fender guitar amp. The tone for works for me, and being that I play a variety of music it seems to fit in a large variety of styles.
5. Staying in tune - they are on a modulus with a graphite stinger in the neck so the bass is prone to staying in tune. That said, I a b between this bass and another one and after not touching it for a gig, where it traveled back and forth in the bed of my truck, I plugged it in and it was still in tune. So the strings are working with the bass to do their part. I should also mention these are 40's.
In summary - overall solid nickel string. As far as the inconsistency hype goes, at first it is true the b isn't on par with e-g but after about a week everything evens out.
