Cool, that's you in their video, huh?
Do you know where we could check out the sounds of the P-bass pickup though? I only saw the Soapbars in the vids.
I'm seriously considering one of these for my upcoming (and first) Warmoth build. I'm doing a Deluxe V, but with a single P style pickup in the normal position. I'm leaning towards a Bill Lawrence P-46, but these Alumitones have got me thinking...

the case is actually the single-wind of a close-coupled audio transformer...a small secondary winding and WOILA, a pickup...very cool...
the only thing I don't like about it is the name..."Alumitone"...
Alumitone connotates this "sounds like Aluminum" image to me...not good from a marketing standpoint IMO
but what a great innovation...I'd love to HEAR more...

The earlier version was called Transensor (transformer/sensor)... works on the same principal, but used a copper loop instead of aluminum.
As a side note, does anyone know who invented these pickups?

Now I would like to pair those pups with that Filter ACG pre-amp...this certainly would sound unique!

Lace Sensors are different... a bit more like regular pickups with a wire coil, but they are still pretty unique.

A semi-serious search of the web hasn't turned up anything for the P-Bass version. Has anyone found any? I've got a bass that I wouldn't mind giving them a try in...

strange..i found about those pickups a lot of time ago,
and was reading info about them here.
Always wondered as nobody seems to have tried them or actually did hear them,
or reviewed on some bass mags,or online.
The Samples/videos i've heard are not that great ,
they don appear so "broader" sounding like qtuners.
But I 've noted That it is FAR Too much speaking than Playing on the youtube Videos.
The only one where you hear some notes without the direct speeching is that one:

Maybe,too Bad the screws are defintely different ,so no Straight swap possible (i wonder )
The tonal description of these being very wide and aiming for a flat response reminds me a lot of the descriptions for Dark Star pickups. Obviously the designs are on opposite ends of the spectrum, but I'd still love to see a comparison of the two.
If they both aim for a tonally flat output and a very wide range of response I wonder if these will begin to infringe on DS territory. Especially considering these wouldn't require any routing for a retrofit to an existing bass.
