I just feel better pitching in. Maybe it helped a little during the recent server explosion/ and subsequent fix with only a few days downtime??

Well, the grass needed to be cut yesterday, so that's a sign that the season officially changed over. I packed up all my bass stuff and tools to bring home on Fri. I plan to move the operation to the house from work. I don't need the band saw on a regular basis any more and I don't want to stay at work till 7-8 pm every night just to use the shop. The problem is, I have a crappy, run down detached garage that's full of junk and the basement is also filled with crap. Neither is ideal for finish work, but the basement would be easier to clear out a section and hang plastic for a "clean" section to do finish. and there's windows I can open. So, I'll likely work on that this week. I also need to set up a work bench and better lighting. I also need to set up a bench that I can keep in the garage and pull out into the yard for sanding, cutting, etc.
I didn't accomplish anything this weekend. I felt like crap on Sat and I probably would have got rolling Sunday afternoon but my wife made me put on a stupid button up shirt and stupid pants and go out to a stupid restaurant for dinner.

I didn't accomplish anything the whole week before last.
My amazing"Corporate boss lady" Wife said in no uncertain terms... she needs a vacation! :eek:
Next thing I knew I was driving the stupid car for 6 hours, checking into a stupid Air bnb condo right on Pacific Beach in stupid San Diego....
AND.... having to sip stupid margaritas with my toes in the sand & watch all the stupid frolicking hard bodies.... and eat amazing (yet stupid) sushi every night!
...for 4 days.
...."Ok then " ....:sour: ... I guess....

It's gettin' serious folks. Bonafide tools. Not stuff from HF or stuff I MacGyver'd from the scrap pile.
Although, I was disappointed at the glob of plastic crap on the end of the saw. At first I thought it was oil, which would make sense, but they evidently spray it with a plastic coating and let it settle into a glob at the end of the saw. Is this how you guys receive your saws?

Heck yeah, why not? Chances are that neck needs a crap-ton of fretwork, good opportunity to practice that :thumbsup:

Yeah, the frets are terrible. the edges are super sharp, sticking up, looks like the neck isn't screwed down all the way or there's a huge shim in there,.....he said it was one of those theme park, coin toss type game prizes.
I told him that if it was decent and just needed a tune up, I'd do that and give it back. But it's pretty crappy and he's never played it or wanted to.
I'm hoping to scavenge some parts for some type of side project/experiment.

Yeah, it looks like the cheapest of the cheap. I think the neck is a great candidate for the cigar box idea. It's really short scale right?

I'd just use the neck, maybe tuners (probably would replace those if the result was good when it was finished :smug:). I'd build a wooden acoustic style bridge and make a nut. Pickups I'd treat much like the tuners :D

Honestly, the neck is such junk that I wouldn't even use it for something like a CBG.
Plus, I think it would be better to have the neck go all the way through as one piece and have the bridge attached to it.
No one ever uses a truss rod in CBGs because they're typically only 3-4 guitar strings and 24-25" scale.
But hey, if the truss rod isn't total junk on this (which I'm expecting it to be garbage), maybe I can use it anyway.
Maybe a headless CBG with tuners at the rear? Maybe side mount tuners like the slotted or scroll bass head stocks? Maybe a 32" scale bass canjo?
This could get stupid real fast.
