I watched few higher quality sound videos today with headphones. They were mostly guitar vids, but they all were playing with 5 way switches and going through all the configs. On every single one, I liked the series and single sounds the best. Granted they were guitars, but I was easily imagining that translating to bass.
I watched one vid where a guy played through a song and it flipped back/forth from a P to a Jazz. Honestly, the jazz sounded like a Ric, even a little brighter and punchier (he may have had some effect on it), but I thought the P sounded terrible.
I'll see if I can find the bass vid again.
Another guy used the same bridge single on a strat and kept playing with different magnets. He did ceramic with steel poles, 2 different size alnico and small neodymium discs under steel poles. That was a cool vid. The ceramic bar mag with steel poles sounded terrible in comparison.
