My 55-01 for sale

Well, it's been fun gents, but I'm out for now. I just couldn't personally justify the expense of upgrading the '01. It's sold, pending payment.

It's a bummer to let such a great looking bass go, but I've got a very nice looking Peavey Millennium Plus 5 that's coming my way.

Take care!

I will!

I wish I could have both, but it's not meant to be. I'll definitely be back. Someday I want to upgrade an '01 or maybe get an '02 with the Lakland pups/LH3 pre.

That was fast!

Supertanker, I have a question for you and some of the other members of the 01 club. I have a 55-01 and just got an Aggie OBP-3. I am trying to decide which pickups to order. The Bart MK replacements, Nordy Big Singles, or Fatstacks. Which ones would pair nicely with the Aggie to give me a versatile, growly, modern tone?

I think any of those will work great with the OBP-3.

It's gonna boil down to what you need right now and your preferences.

I'm totally in love with my US Barts.
They are very versatile, deep thick bass, clear punchy mids, crystal clear highs.

There is no volume drop as you move from one register to the next.
The low, mids, and highs are equal in volume.

They give a wicked slap tone, chords are full and very guitar like, finger-style is cutting, present and punchy.
The solo tone is simply perfect.

If you have soapbar Barts in another bass, you may not want to go with the Barts.

Big Singles would be my next choice.

I'm looking for the phat-nastiest single coil jazz sound I can find and Big Singles are going in my second 5501.

I don't know much about fat stacks, but there are others here who are running fat stacks.
I sure they can chime in...

I'm very seriously considering a 55-01 in the next few months.
It'll be my first attempt at a 5 string, as well as my first bass with active electronics.
(I've played mostly Fender P's in the past)

I don't have the best technique. Should I be worried about transitioning to a 5 string?
